Abstract

Acute Gastroenteritis (GAE) is a major health problem in children that contributes to high morbidity and mortality rates. Globally, there are approximately 1.7 billion cases per year, with approximately 443,832 deaths in children aged <5 years. In Indonesia, the prevalence of GEA reaches 60–80% in children, while in the Marwa Room of Aisyiyah Pariaman Hospital, cases increased from 42 cases (2023), 60 cases (2024), to 61 cases (2025) and ranks second most common disease. This study aims to describe nursing care for children with GEA through the stages of assessment, diagnosis, intervention, implementation, and evaluation. The method used is a case study on An. E on February 14-18, 2026 in the Marwa Room of Aisyiyah Pariaman Hospital. The results of the study showed nursing problems in the form of diarrhea, hypovolemia, hyperthermia, and nutritional deficits. Interventions include monitoring vital signs, administering fluids, monitoring intake-output, and family education. Evaluation showed a decrease in diarrhea frequency, normal body temperature, and improved hydration status. Parents are advised to administer oral rehydration salts promptly, maintain hand hygiene, ensure food hygiene, and recognize signs of dehydration such as dry mouth and lethargy. Healthcare workers need to increase family education to prevent complications of GEA.

Abstract

Morbili is a highly contagious acute viral infection and remains a health problem, especially in children. The number of morbili cases recorded in the Marwa Ward of Aisyiyah Pariaman Hospital is increasing, namely 5 cases in 2023, 1 case in 2024, and increasing to 58 cases in 2025. Morbili is also included in the three most common diseases and has caused extraordinary events (KLB). This condition requires optimal care. The high frequency of occurrence and the danger of life threatening complications require effective and comprehensive treatment. This condition requires the provision of comprehensive and targeted care to prevent complications. This study aims to provide an overview of the nursing care process including assessment, diagnosis, planning, implementation, and evaluation in children with morbili. This study was conducted using a case study method from February 10 to 14, 2026, in the Marwa Ward of Aisyiyah Pariaman Hospital. The results revealed health problems such as ineffective airway clearance, hyperthermia, diarrhea, and the risk of nutritional deficits. Interventions included monitoring vital signs, regular temperature monitoring, maintaining the airway, and meeting fluid needs to prevent dehydration. Five days after surgical intervention, secretions were removed, the child's temperature returned to normal, diarrhea frequency decreased, and appetite improved. Appropriate care can stabilize the condition of children with Morbili and can serve as a reference for implementing pediatric care practices.

Abstract

Bronchopneumonia is a respiratory tract infection characterized by the accumulation of secretions due to mucus buildup, which interferes with ventilation and increases the risk of impaired tissue oxygenation as well as complications such as respiratory failure. This study aims to describe the implementation of nursing care for children with bronchopneumonia, including assessment, nursing diagnoses, planning, implementation, and evaluation. The research method used is a case study of patient An. A who was treated in the Pediatric Ward of RSUD Prof. H. M. Yamin, SH Pariaman from March 3 to March 7, 2026. Data collection techniques included interviews, observation, physical examination, and documentation. The results showed that the patient experienced several nursing problems, namely ineffective airway clearance, ineffective breathing pattern, hyperthermia, and risk of nutritional deficit. Nursing interventions provided included airway management, respiratory monitoring, hyperthermia management, and nutritional management. After five days of nursing care, the patient’s condition improved, as indicated by more effective airway clearance, improved breathing pattern, normal body temperature, and increased appetite. It can be concluded that comprehensive and standard-based nursing care is effective in improving the patient’s condition. Nurses are expected to regularly monitor the patient’s respiratory status and provide education to the family regarding home care, including maintaining environmental hygiene, avoiding exposure to cigarette smoke, meeting nutritional needs, and conducting regular follow-up visits to prevent recurrence.

Abstract

Measles is a highly contagious acute infectious disease and remains a significant health problem among children, particularly due to low immunization coverage. In 2025, there was an increase in measles cases in Pariaman City, reaching 115 cases, associated with a vaccination coverage rate of only 40%. This study aimed to describe nursing care provided to a child with measles and emphasize the importance of prevention through immunization. The method used was a case study of a 9-year-old child (An. S) who was hospitalized for five days with a diagnosis of measles. Assessment findings revealed major symptoms including high fever, productive cough, maculopapular rash, decreased appetite, and conjunctivitis. Four primary nursing problems were identified: ineffective airway clearance, hyperthermia, impaired skin integrity, and risk of nutritional deficit. Nursing interventions included fever management, airway care, skin care, and nutritional support delivered comprehensively and continuously. Evaluation results showed that all nursing problems were resolved within five days of care. In conclusion, appropriate and comprehensive nursing care significantly improved the patient's condition. Family education and complete immunization are essential measures to prevent measles in children.

Abstract

Hypertension is one of the non-communicable diseases that commonly occurs in Indonesia and contributes to increased morbidity and mortality rates. Hypertension is often referred to as a silent killer because many sufferers are unaware of their condition until complications such as stroke, heart disease, and kidney failure occur. Based on data from the Naras Community Health Center, hypertension ranked second among the ten most common diseases, with 1,363 cases reported in 2025. This condition indicates that hypertension remains a health problem requiring special attention. This study aimed to implement family nursing care for families with hypertension in the working area of the Naras Community Health Center in 2026. The research method used was a case study with a family nursing process approach, including assessment, nursing diagnosis, intervention, implementation, and evaluation. Based on the results of the study conducted by the researcher from February 28 to March 6, 2026, in the working area of the Naras Community Health Center on Mrs. S’s family, it was found that the family lacked understanding regarding hypertension, its causes, signs and symptoms, home care, and the importance of routine blood pressure monitoring. The nursing problems identified were risk-prone behavior, noncompliance, and pain. The interventions provided included health education, recommendations for a low-salt diet, regular physical activity, medication adherence, and utilization of health services. After the nursing interventions were implemented, the family showed increased knowledge, was able to care for family members with hypertension, became more compliant with health check-ups, and experienced reduced pain complaints. It can be concluded that family nursing care is effective in helping control hypertension and prevent complications.

Abstract

Typhoid fever is an infectious disease of the small intestine caused by the bacteria Salmonella typhi characterized by increasing fever, decreased appetite, and digestive disorders, especially in pediatric patients. This study aims to provide pediatric nursing care to patients with typhoid fever using a case study method with a nursing care approach that includes assessment, diagnosis, intervention, implementation, and evaluation with data collection through interviews, observation, physical examination, and documentation. The author conducted the study from February 11 to 14, 2026 with the subject of the study, namely An.K with a medical diagnosis of typhoid fever who was treated in the Marwa Room of Aisyiyah Pariaman Hospital. The results of the study obtained nursing problems namely hyperthermia, nutritional deficit, ineffective airway clearance, and constipation. After being given nursing interventions for 4 days in the form of airway management, hyperthermia management, nutritional management, and elimination management the patient's condition improved marked by decreased fever, improved appetite, improved intestinal peristalsis, while the problem of airway clearance had not been completely resolved but had shown an improvement in clinical conditions, so that nursing care was effective in improving the patient's condition. It is hoped that patients and their families can provide care and maintain the cleanliness of each family member to avoid disease.
