Abstract

Christian Religious Education (PAK) plays a crucial role in shaping students’ character, particularly amid the increasingly complex digital age. This urgency arises due to the weakening of Christian character practices, reflected in various negative phenomena, such as bullying, violence among students, the fading of good manners, declining social awareness, the destructive misuse of digital media, and increasing intolerance within the school environment. This study aims to analyze the role of Christian Character Education (CCE) in shaping the character of junior high school (SMP) students using a qualitative approach through a literature review, grounded in Thomas Lickona’s character theory. The results indicate that CCE plays a significant role in shaping students’ character through three primary pathways: Bible-based instruction, the cultivation of positive attitudes in daily life, and teachers serving as moral role models. These three pathways align with the three moral dimensions proposed by Lickona, namely moral knowing, moral feeling, and moral behavior. However, there are a number of challenges that hinder the effectiveness of PAK, including a lack of role modeling within the family environment, the overwhelming influence of modern culture, and the negative impact of digital media. Therefore, strong collaboration between schools, families, and churches is needed, along with improvements in the competencies of religious education teachers, so that character education can be implemented effectively and sustainably.

Abstract

Adolescence is a critical phase in the formation of self-identity, which is heavily influenced by self-image. Students at SMPK 2 Harapan Untal-Untal Bali exhibit signs of low self-image, reflected in feelings of inferiority and an inability to fully realize their potential, a situation further exacerbated by exposure to social media and its unrealistic standards. The objective of this Community Service (PkM) activity is to build a foundation for a healthy self-image among adolescent students through the integration of psychological approaches and Christian values. The partners of the activity were 60 students and 12 teachers and staff at SMPK 2 Harapan Untal-Untal Bali. The methods used were integrative, including interactive lectures, biblical reflection based on the Imago Dei concept (Gen 1:27), small group discussions, and self-affirmation exercises based on God’s Word. The results showed an increase in students’ understanding of their identity in Christ, with 85% of participants stating they were better able to accept themselves. The impact of this activity included increased awareness among teachers regarding their role in guiding students’ identity development, as well as the creation of a school culture that better supports the growth of healthy self-esteem.

Abstract

In church planting, the role of correct management is very important. A healthy church is a church that has clear, orderly management and is in accordance with the vision and mission. A church leader often overlooks matters relating to management. Without realizing it, the church does not experience any relevant reforms to improve the quality of a healthy church. In this research the author uses a historical and theological analysis approach, exploring the journey of the Apostle Paul as a leader who organized and managed his first mission in spreading the Gospel in various cities in the Asia Minor region. The results of this research found that Paul used good management with several steps as a strategy in carrying out the mission. The management consists of preparation or planning with prayer and fasting, forming a mission team, dividing tasks and responsibilities, determining the mission location, contextual and wise approaches in managing problems.
