Abstract

This study discusses the concept of Sufistic counseling from the perspective of Syaikh Abdul Shamad al-Palimbani, one of the prominent 18th-century Nusantara scholars who significantly contributed to the development of Sufi teachings. Through a literature review of his works, particularly Hidayatus Salikin and Siyarus Salikin, this research reveals al-Palimbani’s views on the processes of soul purification, spiritual strengthening, and inner healing as the foundations of Sufistic counseling. The findings show that Sufistic counseling according to al-Palimbani emphasizes three main aspects: (1) tazkiyatun nafs through mujahadah and riyadhah as forms of self-purification; (2) the deepening of ma'rifat to build divine consciousness as the core of psychological strength; and (3) the formation of noble character as a manifestation of spiritual perfection that contributes to mental well-being. These concepts are relevant to be integrated into modern counseling practices, especially within Muslim communities that require a tradition-based spiritual approach. This study asserts that al-Palimbani’s ideas can serve as a holistic model of Sufistic counseling, harmoniously combining psychological and spiritual dimensions. Abstract

Abstract: This research reveals the closeness of the characters to their God through various aspects of Sufistic values. The research also aims to find out if these five aspects are in accordance with the stages. In collecting data, the method used was reading thoroughly and repeatedly using note-taking methods and the approach used was descriptive qualitative research. The results of the research and discussion show that in the novel Hijrah Itu Cinta by Abay Adhitya there are Sufistic values which involve five things, namely (1) Sufistic values viewed from the aspect of repentance. (2) Sufistic values viewed from the aspect of patience, (3) Sufistic values viewed from the poor aspect, (4) Sufistic values viewed from the ascetic aspect, and (5) Sufistic values viewed from the aspect of tawakal. The data found through the dialogue of the characters has shown its relevance in everyday life.Keywords: Sufistic values, morals, and spiritual practices. Abstrak: Penelitian ini mengungkapkan kedekatan para tokoh dengan Tuhannya melalui berbagai aspek nilai sufistik. Penelitian juga bertujuan untuk menggali dan menganalisis nilai sufistik yang terdapat pada novel yang menjadi objek penelitian. Dalam mengumpulkan data, metode yang digunakan adalah membaca secara menyeluruh dan berulang-ulang menggunakan metode catat dan pendekatan yang digunakan yaitu deskriptif jenis penelitian kualitatif. Hasil penelitian dan pembahasan menunjukkan bahwa dalam novel Hijrah Itu Cinta karya Abay Adhitya terdapat nilai-nilai sufistik yang menyangkut lima hal yakni (1) Nilai sufistik ditinjau dari aspek taubat.(2) Nilai sufistik ditinjau dari aspek sabar, (3) Nilai sufistik ditinjau dari aspek mahabbah, (4) nilai sufistik ditinjau dari aspek zuhud, dan (5) Nilai sufistik ditinjau dari aspek tawakal. Data-data yang ditemukan melalui dialog para tokoh sudah menunjukkan bahwa relevansinya dalam kehidupan sehari-hari.Kata kunci: Nilai sufistik, moral, dan praktik spiritual.
