Abstract

Waste management in Indonesia remains a challenge, particularly in monitoring waste volume and classifying waste types, which are generally still carried out manually and are therefore less efficient. This study aims to develop a Machine Learning-based Android application to estimate waste volume and detect waste types using Convolutional Neural Network (CNN) and You Only Look Once (YOLO) models. The research method includes image data collection and labeling, pre-processing, model training, evaluation, and model implementation into an Android application using TensorFlow Lite. The dataset used consists of 1,584 images for waste volume estimation and 3,168 images for waste type detection, which were divided into training, validation, and testing data. The test results show that the CNN model achieved an accuracy of 90 percent in estimating waste volume. Meanwhile, the YOLO model achieved a precision of 96.59 percent, recall of 97.51 percent, and mAP@50 of 98.39 percent in detecting waste types. Implementation on the Advan Tab 7 Android device showed that the models were successfully run in TFLite format, with a CNN model size of 12,919 KB and a YOLO model size of 11,994 KB, as well as application memory usage of 80.34 MB during operation. In addition, testing using external data outside the training and testing datasets showed that limitations still exist under certain conditions. Overall, the developed system has the potential to serve as a technology-based solution to support more efficient waste management.

Abstract

This community empowerment program in Sukajadi Village implemented integrated interventions across education, health, economy, and environment sectors using participatory rural appraisal methodology. Key activities included establishing Mini English Club, health education campaigns, digital marketing training for MSMEs focusing on local products (furniture and fermented cassava), and integrated waste management systems. Results showed significant achievements: 75% increase in community participation, 80% of MSMEs successfully established online business presence, functional waste bank processing 50 kg of waste weekly, and 85% of households demonstrated enhanced environmental awareness. The program effectively empowered the community by optimizing local potential while ensuring sustainability through context-specific approaches.

Abstract

This community service program implemented a participatory approach through the Participatory Development Real Work Lecture (KKN-PM) to revitalize the potential of Mekarjadi Village, Ciamis Regency. The comprehensive assessment revealed several critical challenges, including limited digital marketing capabilities among MSMEs, suboptimal post-harvest agricultural product management, inadequate disaster preparedness, and traditional administrative systems. The methodology employed participatory rural appraisal techniques, including direct observation, focused group discussions, and collaborative planning with village stakeholders. Implementation strategies encompassed digital literacy training for MSMEs, sustainable agricultural practices using environmentally friendly pest control, participatory disaster risk mapping, development of village profile websites, and school literacy movements. The results demonstrated significant achievements: 75% of MSME participants successfully adopted digital marketing tools, comprehensive disaster risk maps were established across three hamlets, a functional village website was launched, and student literacy engagement increased by 80%. The program successfully enhanced community capacity in local resource management, although longitudinal mentoring remains essential for sustainable impact. The participatory methodology proved highly effective in ensuring community ownership and designing contextually appropriate interventions that addressed genuine local needs while fostering sustainable development principles.

Abstract

The rapid advancement of Large Language Model (LLM)-based Artificial Intelligence (AI) has created new opportunities to improve the quality and efficiency of teaching and learning processes. However, the adoption of this technology remains constrained by limited AI literacy and prompt engineering skills among educators, particularly in Islamic boarding schools (pesantren). This community service program aimed to enhance teachers' knowledge and skills in utilizing LLM applications through training on prompt engineering techniques based on the C.R.E.A.T.E. and S.T.A.R. frameworks. The program was conducted at Ma'rifa Islamic Boarding School in Cigalontang, Tasikmalaya Regency, involving 32 participants. The implementation methods included lectures, AI application demonstrations, hands-on prompt development practice, and evaluations through pre-tests, post-tests, practical assessments, and participant satisfaction questionnaires. The evaluation results showed that the participants' average score increased from 58.4 in the pre-test to 85.7 in the post-test, representing an improvement of 46.7%. In the practical assessment, 82% of participants successfully developed prompts using the C.R.E.A.T.E. and S.T.A.R. techniques with good to excellent performance. Furthermore, the participant satisfaction survey yielded an average score of 4.58 out of 5, indicating that the training materials were considered relevant, easy to understand, and beneficial for supporting teaching and learning activities. Overall, the program successfully improved participants' AI literacy, understanding of LLM technology, and prompt engineering competencies. Therefore, similar training programs should be implemented continuously to support digital transformation and foster innovation in teaching and learning within Islamic boarding school environments.
