Current health communication practices are changing with the development of social media and digital culture. Health communication not only examines the process of conveying health information but also becomes part of popular culture that is closely linked to aesthetics, consumption, and power relations. This is evident in the concept of wellness culture, which represents health as a healthy lifestyle based on ideal standards and closely related to consumption practices and performance. This study aims to analyze how women interpret health messages in wellness culture, how the body is represented, and how consumerism and power relations operate in contemporary health communication. This study uses a critical paradigm with a qualitative approach. Data collection was conducted through in-depth semi-structured interviews and Focus Group Discussions (FGDs) with women aged 18-30. Data analysis was conducted using feminist health communication theory and standpoint theory. The results show that the meaning of a healthy life for women is private and diverse. Health is not simply understood as physical and mental balance but also refers to lifestyle, self-image, and performance displayed in the digital space. Wellness culture encourages and reinforces visual representations of healthy bodies, with standards that create a performative burden for women to improve and display their bodies and lifestyles in digital spaces. These wellness practices are also closely linked to mechanisms of consumerism, where healthy living practices are linked to the consumption of certain products or services as symbols of identity. Power relations are also found within the wellness industry. This research adds to critical health communication studies and focuses on the interconnectedness of health messages, power, consumerism, and wellness culture.
