Abstract

This study aims to analyze the relationship between mother tongue dominance and the language attitudes of IPB students in the 62nd batch. The background of this study is based on the phenomenon of language shift and maintenance in a multicultural university environment where students are faced with the demands of using regional languages, national languages, and global languages. The research method used was quantitative with a cross-sectional survey approach. Data collection instruments included a mother tongue dominance questionnaire adapted from the Bilingual Language Profile (BLP) and a language attitude scale based on cognitive, affective, and conative dimensions adapted from Baker (1992). The data were analyzed using SPSS 27 through validity and reliability tests, descriptive statistical analysis, normality tests, and Pearson's correlation test. The results showed a positive and significant relationship between mother tongue dominance and students' language attitudes, with a correlation coefficient of 0.213 and a significance of 0.009 (< 0.05). Although the strength was relatively weak, this finding confirmed that the more dominant the use of the mother tongue, the more positive the students' attitudes toward that language. IPB students of Class 62 showed positive attitudes towards their mother tongue, but remained adaptive to the use of national and international languages in the academic environment. This finding emphasizes the importance of preserving the mother tongue among students as part of preserving cultural identity and strengthening multilingual awareness. This study also recommends that campuses develop programs based on regional culture and language as a form of support for linguistic diversity in higher education. Abstract

This study examines how cultural lag serves as the primary barrier to community participation in preventive health services at Posyandu Melati 6 in Cimanggu 2 Village. Cultural lag emerges when the modernization of posyandu through improved health facilities, digitalized reporting systems, and strengthened cadre capacity develops more rapidly than changes in community values, health knowledge, and behavioral practices. Using a qualitative approach through observations, in-depth interviews, and documentation, the findings show that low health literacy, curative-oriented mindsets, patriarchal norms, and fear of medical procedures are central drivers of this lag between material and nonmaterial cultural elements. To address these gaps, Posyandu Melati 6 implements adaptive strategies including door-to-door outreach, culturally sensitive communication, intensive assistance for high-risk medical cases, and multi-actor collaboration with neighborhood leaders, midwives, and the local health center. This study highlights that improving community participation relies heavily on the posyandu’s institutional capacity to navigate and mitigate the effects of cultural lag while strengthening social legitimacy and organizational resilience.

Abstract

The development of digital entertainment media has transformed communication patterns in society—particularly among the younger generation—through the use of humor, sarcasm, and various forms of popular language influenced by social media. This phenomenon is reflected in the comedy show Lapor Pak!, which features spontaneous interactions between the cast and guest stars, including the comedy group Agak Laen. This study aims to describe the humor strategies, forms of sarcasm, and Gen Z language usage in Lapor Pak! based on a pragmatic analysis. The study employs a qualitative descriptive method with a pragmatic approach. The data consists of utterances by the cast and Agak Laen guest stars, obtained from Lapor Pak! episodes on the Trans7 YouTube channel. Data was collected through observation and note-taking, then analyzed using pragmatic methods by identifying the context of speech, implicatures, violations of the principle of cooperation, and the forms of popular language that emerged. The results show that humor strategies are constructed through wordplay, roasting, irony, hyperbole, and violations of conversational maxims, which produce comedic effects. Sarcasm manifests as direct jabs, verbal taunts, and social criticism, serving to reinforce humor while shaping the dynamics of interaction among speakers. Furthermore, Gen Z language use is characterized by the utilization of digital slang, code-mixing, popular abbreviations, and contextual expressions that represent the communication culture of the younger generation. These findings indicate that the pragmatic strategies in Lapor Pak! not only play a role in creating humorous effects but also reflect the adaptation of language to contemporary digital culture and strengthen the communicative rapport between speakers and the audience. Keywords: Gen Z language, humor strategies, Lapor Pak!, pragmatics, sarcasm.
