Abstract

The agricultural sector in West Sumatra, particularly in rural areas such as Kampung Dadok, plays a strategic role in supporting food security and community economic development. However, farmers still face various challenges, including limited access to capital, market price instability, and dependence on unfair lending practices. This study aims to analyze the implementation of sharia business management in empowering farmers’ economic activities in Kampung Dadok. The research employed a qualitative approach using a case study method. Data were collected through in-depth interviews, observations, and documentation involving farmers and local community leaders. The results indicate that sharia business principles, such as justice, partnership, and mutual cooperation, are culturally embedded in farmers’ economic activities, although not yet formally institutionalized. Farmers expressed strong interest in establishing sharia-based cooperatives as an alternative for fair financing through mudharabah and qardhul hasan schemes. The main challenges include low sharia financial literacy, limited institutional support, and suboptimal technical assistance
