Abstract

This study aims to analyze the relationship between gadget addiction and students' mental health from the perspective of Islamic education. Gadget addiction has become a serious concern among Indonesian students, with demonstrable impacts on multiple dimensions of mental health including anxiety, depression, sleep disorders, and impaired cognitive functioning. Employing a mixed-methods approach—quantitative correlational and qualitative library research—the study integrates empirical data analysis (n=284 senior high school students in three major Indonesian cities) with theoretical examination grounded in Nicholas Carr's The Shallows: What the Internet Is Doing to Our Brains and Islamic educational psychology. Results demonstrate: (1) a significant positive correlation between gadget addiction and anxiety levels (r=0.71, p<0.001) and depression (r=0.64, p<0.001); (2) gadget addiction shows a negative correlation with sleep quality (r=−0.68, p<0.001) and academic achievement (r=−0.59, p<0.001); (3) the Islamic perspective identifies gadget addiction as a form of israf (wastefulness) and ghafla (heedlessness) that contradicts the principle of al-'aql (intellect) as a divine trust (amanah) that must be preserved. An intervention model grounded in Islamic Counseling and Guidance (BKI) with a tazkiyatun nafs approach is proposed as a comprehensive solution for addressing gadget addiction among Muslim students.

Abstract

Pendampingan mutu menjadi salah satu peran strategis Perguruan Tinggi Keagamaan Islam Swasta (PTKIS) yang telah berkembang dalam membina perguruan tinggi mitra di sekitarnya. Penelitian ini bertujuan menganalisis penerapan pendekatan Outcome-Based Education (OBE) dan potensi pemanfaatan kecerdasan buatan (Artificial Intelligence/AI) dalam mengevaluasi capaian program pendampingan PTKIS yang dilaksanakan oleh Universitas Al-Qolam Malang terhadap 34 PTKIS mitra di Jawa Timur dan sekitarnya. Penelitian menggunakan pendekatan kualitatif deskriptif dengan desain studi kasus, melalui analisis dokumen rekapitulasi kegiatan pendampingan, observasi partisipatif tim Lembaga Penjaminan Mutu (LPM), serta tinjauan literatur terkini terkait OBE dan AI dalam pendidikan tinggi. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa kegiatan pendampingan PTKIS oleh Universitas Al-Qolam Malang dapat dikategorikan ke dalam enam klaster utama, yaitu bimbingan teknis PDDIKTI, migrasi/alih bentuk kelembagaan, benchmarking, pendampingan akreditasi, pembinaan kelembagaan, dan penguatan Sistem Penjaminan Mutu Internal (SPMI); namun, evaluasi keberhasilannya masih bersifat administratif dan belum terstruktur dalam kerangka capaian pembelajaran (learning outcomes) yang terukur sebagaimana prinsip OBE. Penelitian ini mengusulkan model integrasi OBE-AI berupa kerangka evaluasi tiga lapis (capaian kelembagaan, capaian program studi, dan capaian individu dosen) yang didukung pemanfaatan AI untuk pemetaan data, deteksi kesenjangan mutu, dan penyusunan draf rekomendasi tindak lanjut. Model ini diharapkan mempercepat siklus penjaminan mutu, meningkatkan objektivitas evaluasi, serta memperkuat peran Universitas Al-Qolam Malang sebagai simpul (hub) pendampingan PTKIS berbasis data di wilayah Jawa Timur.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the implementation of religious moderation in shaping students’ tolerance attitudes at SMPN 1 Mojoagung. The research employed a qualitative approach using a case study design. Data were collected through in-depth interviews, participatory observation, and documentation involving the principal, teachers, and students from different religious backgrounds. The findings reveal that religious moderation has been integrated into the school culture through inclusive educational policies, equal religious learning services, habituation activities, collaborative social programs, and multicultural interaction among students. The implementation of moderation values is reflected in the provision of equal religious educational facilities, daily spiritual activities according to each religion, and social cooperation without discrimination based on religious identity. Teachers and school leaders play significant roles in strengthening tolerance values through role modeling, inclusive communication, and humanistic educational practices. The study also found several challenges, particularly the influence of intolerant narratives on digital media and differences in parental understanding regarding religious diversity. Nevertheless, the multicultural educational environment developed by the school contributes positively to strengthening students’ attitudes of tolerance, mutual respect, peaceful coexistence, and social harmony. This study contributes theoretically to religious moderation studies and practically to the development of multicultural educational strategies in pluralistic school environments.
