Abstract

The ongoing social and economic disparities in society mean that some groups experience limitations in meeting basic needs, particularly food and clothing. This situation necessitates the involvement of various parties, including students, in social activities as a form of community service. This community service activity aims to assist underprivileged communities by distributing basic necessities and suitable clothing and fostering empathy, social awareness, and responsibility in students towards their surroundings. The method used was Participatory Action Research (PAR), which emphasizes the active participation of students, lecturers, and the community at every stage of the activity. The activity was carried out on December 20, 2025, in the area around Sunan Giri University, Surabaya, with third-semester scholarship students as implementers. The results of the activity showed that the program received a positive response from the beneficiary community and strengthened relationships between students and the community. This activity also increased social awareness, empathy, and a spirit of mutual cooperation among participants. Thus, the distribution of basic necessities and suitable clothing is an effective form of community service in strengthening social solidarity and concern for groups in need.

Abstract

Environmental cleanliness refers to a state in which the environment is protected from pollutants that could compromise health, comfort, and ecosystem sustainability whether in public spaces or on university campuses. In reality, however, many campuses still face cleanliness issues stemming from a lack of awareness regarding hygienic practices. This community service initiative aims to strengthen the culture of cleanliness at Sunan Giri University Surabaya through sanitation education and a sustainable vacant land management program. The project employs the Participatory Action Research (PAR) method, actively involving students, faculty members, and the surrounding community in every stage from planning and implementation to evaluation. Activities included sanitation education, waste collection, weeding, drainage repairs, the painting of campus facilities, and the utilization of vacant land. The results indicate an increase in awareness and participation among the academic community and local residents in maintaining campus cleanliness. Beyond the physical improvements resulting in a cleaner and more orderly environment, the initiative fostered social solidarity and cultivated a sense of collective responsibility for environmental sustainability. Thus, the program contributes positively to establishing a sustainable campus culture of cleanliness that prioritizes environmental health.

Abstract

This study conducts a literature review on the reconstruction of akhlakul karimah in the digital era, focusing on two main issues: the alignment between teacher guidance, school rules, and social media ethics, and the development of a digital akhlak portfolio for madrasah students as a creative expression of character education outcomes. Using a qualitative library research approach with content analysis, this study synthesizes relevant literature to build a theoretical framework. The findings indicate that successful character formation requires expanding the meaning of classical values into the digital realm, reforming school rules to explicitly regulate digital behavior, and the presence of teachers as role models in cyberspace. Furthermore, the digital akhlak portfolio concept positions social media as a platform for students to showcase creative works such as writing, visual arts, and videos that reflect internalized moral values. This portfolio serves as authentic documentation of character development, an evaluation tool, a creative da'wah medium, and a means of building the madrasah's positive reputation. The study contributes theoretically by integrating classical moral education theories with contemporary digital ethics and offers practical guidance for madrasahs to create a holistic educational ecosystem bridging the physical and digital worlds.

Abstract

Collaborative activities explain the strategic meaning of collaborative community service by the Sidoarjo Regency Government together with all levels of the local community as an effort to prevent flooding, findings in the field show that urban flooding is not solely caused by high rainfall, but is triggered by low individual environmental awareness. The purpose of this collaborative activity focuses on maintaining the cleanliness of the River Basin (DAS) which functions as an area and the main factor in disasters and the important role of the government in facilitating this collaboration to maximize potential. This article uses a Participatory Action Research (PAR) approach. This activity attracted broad participation from various parties, including the district government, city government, the Indonesian National Armed Forces (TNI), academics, and community elements. The synergy between the use of heavy equipment and the mobilization of community labor ensured that the cleaning of garbage and water hyacinth was carried out comprehensively, while strengthening social cohesion between the elements involved. The results of this activity achieved dual success: physically (significant river cleanup) and socially, fostering a spirit of cooperation and collective critical awareness among the community regarding the importance of maintaining a clean environment. The conclusion was that this activity proved effective not only as a flood prevention measure but also as a means of strengthening social bonds. It is recommended that similar activities be held periodically to strengthen the collective commitment and solidarity of the Sidoarjo community.

Abstract

The purpose of this activity is to analyze the influence of the sustainable cleanliness movement on students' level of environmental awareness. Environmental conservation activities through the sustainable cleanliness movement conducted by students are carried out on campus. The sustainable cleanliness movement activities carried out by students on campus reflect the application of the Asset-Based Community Development (ABCD) method, which focuses on strengthening local assets such as skills, motivation, and student networks. Direct participation in activities such as waste collection and environmental education has been shown to significantly increase student engagement and foster social responsibility towards the environment. The implementation of these activities has also succeeded in instilling important values such as environmental awareness and a spirit of cooperation. Given the positive impacts generated, it is highly recommended that similar activities be held regularly and periodically to raise awareness of the importance of environmental protection. The campus or student groups are encouraged to continue implementing the sustainable environmental cleanliness program for the ongoing benefits of all parties on campus.

Abstract

Environmental cleanliness is an important aspect in creating a healthy, safe, and comfortable community life. Cleanliness problems in Waru District, Sidoarjo Regency, arise due to low environmental awareness, minimal sanitation facilities, and community behavior patterns formed by social and cultural factors. The purpose of this activity is to analyze and find participatory solutions to community cleanliness problems through the Participatory Action Research (PAR) approach. The Participatory Action Research (PAR) approach emphasizes active community involvement in the process of problem identification, action planning, activity implementation, and continuous reflection of results. Data collection was carried out through observation, in-depth interviews, group discussions, and activity documentation. The results of the activity show that community participation in community service activities, community discussions, and the preparation of cleanliness programs resulted in increased environmental awareness, increased social solidarity, and the formation of a collective commitment to maintaining cleanliness. The provision of additional facilities such as waste bin arrangement, improved waste management systems, and the involvement of community leaders have a positive impact on the sustainability of the program. Based on this description, it can be concluded that the implementation of PAR is effective in building a culture of clean living because the community acts as both the subject and the primary partner in change. Active citizen involvement has been proven to strengthen environmentally conscious behavior and create sustainable cleanliness solutions.

Abstract

Optimizing community participation in cleaning activities is an important step to create a healthy, comfortable, and sustainable environment. This research aims to understand how communities engage in cleanliness activities, the factors that affect their level of involvement, as well as the strategies that can be applied to improve the effectiveness of community-based cleanliness programs. This study was conducted through literature studies from various journals and previous research that discussed community empowerment, environmental care behavior, and waste management. The results of the analysis showed that community participation was influenced by environmental awareness, local support and leadership, quality of communication between residents, availability of supporting facilities, and consistency of program implementation. In addition, collaboration between local governments, educational institutions, and local communities also strengthens the success of cleaning activities. These findings emphasize the importance of careful planning, clear division of roles, and the implementation of an asset-based community approach to Asset-Based Community Development (ABCD) to encourage active engagement and sustainability of environmental programs.

Abstract

The waste problem in Indonesia remains a serious challenge that is difficult to overcome at all levels of society. Therefore, efforts to increase awareness and understanding of waste management need to be initiated early as a preventative measure to maintain environmental sustainability. This community service activity aims to raise environmental awareness through education on waste separation and management to ensure its usefulness. The method used was Participatory Action Research (PAR), which actively involved students, the community, and the East Java Environmental Agency (DLH) in every stage of the activity. The program was implemented in a planned manner, beginning with the opening, outreach, and clean-up of the Kemambang Afvoer canal. The results of the activity showed an increase in participants' understanding, particularly of the younger generation, of the importance of waste separation and management, especially plastic waste. Although some technical errors were encountered during the implementation, this activity encouraged the formation of early habits in adopting an environmentally friendly lifestyle. This early habituation is expected to contribute to improving the cleanliness and sustainability of the environment and rivers in the surrounding area.

Abstract

The issue of environmental cleanliness is still a serious concern, especially considering the fact that the culture of environmental care among students and globally is still relatively low. It is unfortunate, even though students actually have knowledge about the importance of preserving nature, but in their daily practice it still seems less than optimal. To overcome this problem, this article aims to analyze the implementation of the environmental cleanup program as an effort to build an eco-care culture, especially among students through the Asset Based Community Development (ABCD) approach. This method was chosen because it is participatory by emphasizing the mapping of internal campus assets, such as optimizing existing student potential and then developing it through field observation, documentation, and participatory reflection. The program implemented includes environmental cleaning activities and greening the campus area as well as collaboration with all elements of society as a form of service to the surrounding community. The results of this program show an increase in student participation in environmental cleanup actions, marked by more consistent involvement in routine activities and increased student initiatives in maintaining the cleanliness of the campus area. Observations and reflections indicate a shift in student attitudes, from simply understanding the concept of environmental awareness to more responsible, pro-environmental behavior. This program also strengthens collective awareness that environmental cleanliness is a shared responsibility. These findings emphasize that fostering ecological practices, collaboration among students, and institutional support play a crucial role in fostering a sustainable culture of environmental awareness. This article also recommends developing similar, more participatory, long-term programs that strengthen students' role as agents of change on environmental issues.
