Abstract

This study explores the philosophy, identity, and Islamic educational values embedded in Bakuntau, a traditional martial art of the Banjar community in South Kalimantan. Rather than viewing Bakuntau solely as a combat heritage, this research positions it as a form of cultural pedagogy that fosters character building and spiritual development. In the context of modernization and globalization, Bakuntau faces challenges such as value shifts, cultural commodification, and declining youth interest, which may reduce its educational meaning to mere performance or sport. To address this, Islamic educational values are operationalized as observable practices, including tawhid, adab, discipline, self-control, ukhuwah, gratitude, and ethical responsibility in martial practice. Using a qualitative descriptive method with an ethnographic approach, data were collected through literature review and in-depth interviews with two Banjar Kuntau practitioners, and analyzed thematically. The findings reveal that Bakuntau reflects a balance between physical strength and inner spirituality, functioning as a medium for internalizing Islamic values while reinforcing Banjar cultural identity. This study emphasizes that Bakuntau should be preserved not only as martial techniques but also as a value-based educational practice relevant to contemporary society.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the concept of faith (īmān) in Islamic theology (‘ilm al-kalām) and to examine its potential as a foundational framework for deradicalization in Islamic education. The research employs a qualitative library research method, drawing on classical and contemporary theological works representing major schools of Islamic thought, as well as recent studies on radicalism in educational contexts. Data are analyzed using a descriptive-analytical approach to identify key theological principles that promote moderation, tolerance, and balanced religiosity. The findings reveal that the theological understanding of faith, particularly the integration of belief, verbal affirmation, and ethical action, provides a comprehensive basis for cultivating inclusive and non-extremist attitudes among learners. Moreover, the reinterpretation of faith within a contextual and educational framework contributes to strengthening critical thinking, religious moderation, and resilience against radical ideologies. This study concludes that the concept of faith in Islamic theology can serve as a strategic and transformative foundation for deradicalization efforts in Islamic education, especially in responding to contemporary challenges in Indonesia’s pluralistic society

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the revitalization of the Akidah Akhlak curriculum at the Madrasah Ibtidaiyah level in the era of Artificial Intelligence through the integration of Islamic values, Islamic digital literacy, character education, and 21st-century competencies. This research employed a qualitative approach using library research methods by examining books, scientific journals, and relevant educational policy documents. Data were analyzed using content analysis techniques through data reduction, categorization, interpretation, and conclusion drawing. The findings indicate that the revitalization of the Akidah Akhlak curriculum needs to be carried out adaptively and transformatively by integrating critical thinking skills, digital ethics, communication, collaboration, creativity, and strengthening Islamic character values. In addition, the use of AI technology in moral learning can support interactive and contextual learning when accompanied by proper ethical guidance and supervision. The study concludes that the revitalization of the Akidah Akhlak curriculum in the AI era is essential to ensure the relevance of Islamic education, enabling students to develop strong moral character, digital responsibility, and 21st-century competencies while maintaining Islamic values as the foundation of learning
