Abstract

Character education has become a major focus in basic education, including in Madrasah Ibtidaiyah (MI), in line with the increasing moral and social challenges faced by students in the era of globalization. One relevant approach to strengthening character is the integration of local wisdom values, particularly Malay civilization, into the learning curriculum. Malay civilization contains noble values such as religiosity, politeness, mutual cooperation, responsibility, and respect for customs and the social environment. This study aims to describe the integration of Malay civilization into the Madrasah Ibtidaiyah curriculum as an effort to strengthen students' character education. The research used a qualitative approach with a case study design. Data collection techniques included learning observation, interviews with teachers and madrasah principals, and documentation of learning tools and school activities. Data analysis was carried out through data reduction, data presentation, and conclusion drawing. The results show that the integration of Malay civilization values into the MI curriculum can be done through the development of teaching materials, contextual learning strategies, school cultural habits, and teacher role models. This integration has been proven to contribute to strengthening students' religious character, discipline, responsibility, and social awareness. Thus, Malay civilization can be an effective cultural foundation in supporting character education at Madrasah Ibtidaiyah.

Abstract

This study aims to determine the process of language acquisition and development of students at SDIT Madani Al-Mujahidin and the factors that influence it. The study used a qualitative approach with a descriptive approach. Data collection techniques included observation, interviews, and documentation. Observations were conducted during learning activities and student interactions within the school environment. Interviews were conducted with the principal, teachers, and several students to obtain more in-depth information regarding students' language abilities. Documentation was used to supplement the research data in the form of photos of activities, notes, and other supporting documents. The results showed that students' language acquisition and development were influenced by their family environment, school environment, peers, digital media, and reading habits. Students who received good language stimulation at home and at school tended to have better speaking, listening, reading, and writing skills. Teachers play a crucial role in supporting students' language development through the use of active and communicative learning methods, such as discussions, presentations, shared reading, role-playing, and question-and-answer sessions. Furthermore, the use of Indonesian, Arabic, and English within the school environment also provided students with experiences in acquiring more than one language. A supportive school environment and collaboration between teachers and parents are important factors in fostering optimal language development in students.

Abstract

The digital era presents significant challenges to national integration, particularly in shaping the character of elementary school students who are highly exposed to global information and potential echo chambers. This study aims to analyze the role of school culture in instilling diversity and national integration values at SDIT Al-Hisa Pekanbaru amidst digital disruption. Using a qualitative case study approach, data were collected through in-depth interviews with principals and teachers, participant observation, and documentation. The results indicate that SDIT Al-Hisa Pekanbaru integrates national integration values into its school culture through three main strategies: (1) habituation of inclusive religious and national rituals, (2) digital literacy-based project learning that promotes local wisdom, and (3) the integration of moderate Islamic values (Wasathiyah) with Pancasila. School culture acts as a filter and accelerator, ensuring that students not only maintain their religious identity but also possess a strong national character in navigating the digital era. This study concludes that a synergy between Islamic values and national diversity, facilitated by digital literacy, is crucial for elementary education.
