Abstract

Educational comic media has great potential in increasing learning motivation and conceptual understanding, but its use needs to go through a feasibility evaluation process before being implemented widely. This study aims to evaluate the feasibility of educational comic media on the topic of substances and their changes based on the perceptions of chemistry education students. The study used a quantitative approach with a survey method. The subjects were 30 Chemistry Education students at Jakarta State University who were selected using a total sampling technique. The research instrument was a questionnaire distributed via Google Form to measure several aspects of media feasibility, namely the feasibility of content, presentation and appearance, language, and usability or practicality of the media. Data were analyzed using descriptive statistics in the form of percentages to describe the tendency of respondents' perceptions. The results showed that educational comic media received very positive responses from students in all aspects of the assessment. In terms of content feasibility, the majority of respondents stated that they strongly agreed that the material in the comic was relevant, accurate, and in accordance with learning outcomes. The educational comic media that has been developed may still have shortcomings in terms of visual design, depth of material, or interactivity, so it still requires further improvement.

Abstract

Abstract Comparative education studies play a crucial role in analyzing the response of national education systems to global challenges and in exploring policy learning. This article presents a comparative literature review that aims to critically analyze the differences and similarities between the Indonesian and US education models, focusing on the interaction between four main pillars: curriculum, evaluation systems, governance, and teacher professionalism. The research uses an interpretive comparative narrative review method of primary sources in the form of international and national journal articles, official policy documents, and reports from multilateral institutions published in the last decade (2015-2025). Thematic and contextual comparative analysis reveals a paradigmatic polarization. Indonesia implements controlled decentralization of education while maintaining national standards through the Merdeka Curriculum and National Assessment policies, which are being implemented gradually and comprehensively from elementary school (SD), junior high school (SMP/SLTP), to senior high school and vocational school (SMA/SMK). while the US embraces competitive decentralization with broad autonomy at the state and district levels. These differences result in trade-offs between uniformity and equity in Indonesia, and innovation and fragmentation in the US. The study concludes that policy development in Indonesia requires a hybrid model that combines clear national objectives with meaningful autonomy and constructive accountability. The article's contribution lies in its integrative synthesis, which offers contextual policy implications and avoids simplistic policy transfers.

Abstract

21st century education demands innovation in learning models that can develop critical thinking, collaborative, creative, and digital literacy skills. In the context of vocational education, particularly chemistry learning in vocational high schools, the main challenges lie in low student engagement and limited application of technology in the learning process. This study aims to examine and develop an Artificial Intelligence (AI)-integrated Problem-Based Learning (PBL) model as an innovative alternative relevant to 21st-century learning needs. The study uses a library research method by examining various scientific sources such as journals, books, and previous research results focusing on the application of PBL and AI in education. The results of the study show that the integration of PBL with AI can improve the effectiveness of chemistry learning in vocational schools through contextual, interactive, and adaptive learning experiences. This model is able to encourage the development of science literacy, vocational skills, and student readiness for work through the application of smart technology in solving real problems. The implementation of this model requires an increase in teachers' capacity in digital literacy and AI-based learning design.  It is recommended that vocational schools gradually adopt an AI-based PBL learning approach with the support of teacher training and adequate technological infrastructure in order to realize innovative, effective, and highly competitive chemistry learning in the digital age.
