Abstract

This community service activity aims to empower students of the Physical Education Study Program, FKIP, Indonesian National Islamic University (UNIKI) Class of 2025 through traditional sports games held in the Jangka Sea area, Bireuen Regency. This program is motivated by the low utilization of traditional sports games as a medium for learning and character development of students, as well as the less than optimal use of the open natural environment as a means of contextual learning. The method used is Participatory Action Learning (PAL) which actively involves students through the stages of preparation, provision, implementation of the game, as well as evaluation and reflection. The games implemented include beach tug of war, team clogs, and obstacles. Data collection techniques are carried out through observation, questionnaires, interviews, and documentation. The results of the activity show that the level of participant attendance reached 95%, active student participation was 90%, an increase in understanding of traditional sports by 88%, and the level of participant satisfaction reached 92%. In addition, the ability of student cooperation and sportsmanship is in the good category. This activity provides meaningful learning experiences through an experiential learning approach, enhancing social, communication, and leadership skills, as well as raising students' awareness of the importance of preserving traditional sports as a local cultural heritage. Therefore, traditional sports games can be an effective alternative model for empowering Physical Education students, integrating aspects of education, sports, culture, and character building
