Abstract

The low level of breastfeeding promotion means that mothers do not receive complete information about the importance of exclusive breastfeeding. Programs to increase breastfeeding, especially exclusive breastfeeding, have a broad impact on the nutritional status of infants in Indonesia, referring to the breastfeeding program target of 80%. The problem is that mothers are not aware that exclusive breastfeeding alone meets the needs of infants from 0-6 months, and mothers still lack knowledge about the importance of exclusive breastfeeding for infants. For exclusive breastfeeding to be successful, mothers need to have good knowledge and attitudes about exclusive breastfeeding. Therefore, the goal of community service is to provide mothers with knowledge and attitudes about exclusive breastfeeding. This community service activity was carried out by providing education to mothers who have children aged 0-6 months through lectures using audiovisual media. The educational material was presented in the form of attractive audiovisual images and sounds with a delivery that was easy for mothers to understand. The results of this activity showed an increase in knowledge among all respondents (100%) from the “poor” category to 27 (90%) in the “good” category, and an increase in attitudes from the previous ‘negative’ category of 28 (93.3%) to a “positive” category of 30 (100%) after being educated about exclusive breastfeeding.

Abstract

Background: International migration exposes diaspora populations to a distinctive constellation of psychological stressors, including acculturative friction, identity renegotiation, and disrupted mourning, that host-country psychiatric services rarely address in culturally congruent ways. Gap: Digital communities have become a primary site where diaspora members process these stressors, yet qualitative evidence describing how such platforms function as informal psychosocial infrastructure remains scarce, particularly for Southeast Asian diaspora populations. This study examined how global Indonesian diaspora communities construct cultural identity, negotiate acculturative stress, and manage transnational grief within digital spaces, with attention to implications for psychiatric nursing practice. Methods: A 22-week netnographic observation was conducted across transnational Facebook groups, Reddit communities, Discord servers, and WhatsApp networks, capturing publicly archived discussion threads analysed thematically in accordance with Standards for Reporting Qualitative Research (SRQR) guidance. Results: Four interrelated themes emerged: digital homeland and cultural anchoring; acculturative stress and the in-between identity; collective digital resilience and peer support; and transnational grief and intergenerational trauma. Diaspora members used online spaces to rehearse cultural practices, informally broker encounters with foreign healthcare systems, and mourn losses they could not physically attend. Conclusion: Digital diaspora communities represent an underrecognised psychosocial resource; psychiatric nursing should engage with them directly through culturally responsive assessment and cross-sector partnership, rather than treating online help-seeking as a proxy for formal care.

Abstract

The rapid spread of dengue fever can cause epidemics and result in deaths within a short period of time. One effort to eradicate this mosquito is fogging. The high incidence of Dengue Hemorrhagic Fever (DHF) in Dungus Village is caused by poor environmental conditions, such as clogged drainage channels, inadequate waste-disposal facilities, and large amounts of garbage thrown onto the streets, which mark the beginning of the high reproduction rate of the Aedes aegypti mosquito. The purpose of this community service activity was to increase community awareness and behavior through the implementation of simple fogging innovation as a preventive measure against dengue fever outbreaks. The method used was Participatory Action Research (PAR), conducted in three stages: planning, implementation, and evaluation. The planning stage consisted of observation and interviews. The implementation stage consisted of counseling and implementation of the simple fogging innovation, and the evaluation stage was carried out to measure the success of the community empowerment program in overcoming DHF. The results of the community service activity after evaluation showed that knowledge was in the good category (74.3%), attitudes were in the good category (77.1%), and actions mostly showed a good category (68%). After the community service activity was implemented, community behavior in preventing DHF using simple fogging innovation showed good behavior.
