Abstract

Zakat profession is a problem that has not been discuss in the time of the Prophet Muhammad. However there is no argument in the verses of the Holy Quran and the Prophets Hadith explicitly explain the obligation and unobligation about the law of zakat profession. Causing the differences of opinion among Ulama about its legal status. Meanwhile in Indonesia, Islamic organizations have their respective legal provisions in establishing the law of zakat profession. In this state, Muhammadiyah through Muhammadiyah Tarjih Assembly has set the zakat profession, is a mandatory. This aim of this study is to know the law of zakat profession according to Majelis Tarjih Muhammadiyah and how the method used by Majelis Tarjih Muhammadiyah in establishing the law of zakat profession. And also the fatwa’s implications about application of zakat profession at the University of Muhammadiyah Sumatera Utara. The method that used by writer in this research is descriptive analytical. collecting data from the literature study and field research. This research tried to explains istinbath method of the law of zakat profession from Muhammadiyah organization through Muhammadiyah Tarjih Assembly and fatwa implication to the law of zakat profession applied at University of Muhammadiyah Sumatera Utara.

Abstract

This research was motivated by collaboration between the UMSU Islamic Faculty and the Al-Hidayah Foundation in implementing the Community Service Program (KKN) in Thailand. The aim is to reveal the contribution of the Al-Hidayah Foundation in improving the quality of Islamic Religious Faculty graduates through the KKN program. This research uses a qualitative descriptive approach with data instruments in the form of observation, interviews and documentation. Data were analyzed using the Miles and Huberman model and tested via triangulation. The research results show the significant contribution of the Al-Hidayah Foundation in improving the quality of education and empowering students. Through KKN, students experience an increase in the quality of learning, application of theory in practice, and development of leadership skills and social responsibility. This collaboration also strengthens international relations between the Al-Hidayah Foundation and UMSU, opening up opportunities for cultural exchange and educational project collaboration. It is hoped that this collaboration will provide benefits to other faculties at UMSU, broaden horizons, improve the quality of education, and empower students to improve the quality of graduates.

Abstract

The school environment is the second main educational environment after the family. Students, teachers administrators, counselors live together and carry out education regularly and well planned. The problem studied in this article is how the environment of SMP Muhammadiyah 57 Medan. How are the students' learning outcomes in Islamic Religious Education subjects at SMP Muhammadiyah 57 Medan. Is there an influence of school environment on student learning outcomes in Islamic Religious Education subjects at Muhammadiyah 57 Junior High School in Medan? Character education involves school culture and family environment, character education is an effort to help develop human potential in order to form morals, character and personality as a whole human being.

Abstract

This article discusses the phenomenon of criminalisation of online gambling in society and its implications for the criminal justice system in Indonesia. Gambling, which is regulated in the Criminal Code (KUHP) Article 303 and Article 303 bis, has undergone transformation in line with the development of information technology. Online gambling, as a form of gambling that utilises the internet, poses new challenges in law enforcement and community protection. In this context, this study aims to analyse the social impact of online gambling as well as the effectiveness of the criminal justice system in handling gambling cases that occur in cyberspace. Through a normative approach and juridical analysis, this article finds that despite clear regulations on gambling, the implementation of the law still faces obstacles, including the lack of public understanding of the risks and legal consequences of online gambling. Therefore, synergy between law enforcement, government, and the community is needed to create more effective awareness and prevention of online gambling practices.

Abstract

Perkembangan teknologi digital telah mengubah cara remaja berinteraksi, namun juga membawa tantangan baru berupa meningkatnya risiko perundungan digital (cyberbullying). Kondisi ini terjadi di Desa Kalijoso, Kecamatan Secang, Kabupaten Magelang, di mana masih rendahnya pemahaman dan kesadaran pada hukum serta etika digital di kalangan remaja sekitar juga menjadi salah satu faktor rentan. Program pengabdian masyarakat ini bertujuan untuk meningkatkan kesadaran hukum, membangun literasi digital dasar, serta memperkuat peran keluarga dan masyarakat dalam pencegahan cyberbullying. program pengabdian kepada masyarakat ini berbasis partisipatif bersama dengan mitra Pemerintah Desa Kalijoso. Kegiatan dilaksanakan melalui tiga bentuk utama: sosialisasi hukum dan etika digital, pelatihan literasi digital, serta diskusi kelompok antara remaja, orang tua, dan tokoh masyarakat. Evaluasi dilakukan menggunakan instrumen pre-test dan post-test. Hasil menunjukkan adanya peningkatan rata-rata skor dari 56,7 menjadi 85,3, dengan peningkatan terbesar pada pemahaman bentuk cyberbullying dan konsekuensi hukum. Selain peningkatan pengetahuan, terjadi pula perubahan sikap dan perilaku peserta terhadap penggunaan media digital. Keterlibatan aktif masyarakat menunjukkan bahwa pendekatan partisipatif dan inklusif efektif dalam membangun kesadaran kolektif terhadap keamanan digital. Program ini menjadi contoh praktik baik dalam upaya pencegahan cyberbullying di lingkungan pedesaan.

Abstract

The practice of merisik remains alive and continues to be preserved in the Malay customs of Medan, even though there are no explicit regulations regarding the merisik tradition in either Islamic law or state law. This article will discuss how the diversity of traditional wedding practices in Indonesia, specifically the merisik tradition among the Malay community in Medan, is negotiated within a multicultural context from the perspectives of Islam and customary law. The objective of this study is to identify Islamic values within the merisik tradition and to analyze their relevance to Malay customary law. This research employs a qualitative approach based on field research, utilizing data collection techniques such as interviews and observation, supported by secondary data from literature and Google Scholar journals over the past decade, which are analyzed using a descriptive-normative approach. The results of this study indicate that the merisik tradition reflects religious, personal, and social values that are closely linked to both Malay customary law and Islamic values. The main argument of this article centers on the negotiation between the merisik tradition and Islamic law and Malay customary law. This tradition has historical ties to the process of Islamization among the Malay community in Medan and embodies Islamic values, namely, religious (kafā’ah), personal (trustworthiness and honesty), and social (consultation, etiquette in visiting and hosting), which align with Malay customary law in fostering family harmony and social sustainability. Praktik mersik tetap hidup dan terus dilestarikan dalam adat Melayu Kota Medan meskipun tidak ada regulasi eksplisit mengenai tradisi merisik dalam hukum Islam maupun hukum negara. Artikel ini akan mendiskusikan bagaimana praktik keragaman adat pernikahan di Indonesia, khususnya tradisi merisik dalam masyarakat Melayu Kota Medan, yang dinegosiasikan dengan kondisi multikultural dari perspektif Islam dan hukum adat. Tujuan penelitian ini adalah mengidentifikasi nilai-nilai Islam dalam tradisi merisik serta menganalisis relevansinya dengan hukum adat Melayu. Riset ini menggunakan pendekatan kualitatif berbasis field research dengan teknik pengumpulan data melalui wawancara dan observasi, didukung data sekunder dari literatur dan jurnal Google Scholar dalam kurun waktu satu dekade terakhir, yang dianalisis secara deskriptif-normatif. Hasil penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa tradisi merisik mencerminkan nilai-nilai keagamaan, pribadi, dan sosial yang erat kaitannya dengan hukum adat Melayu maupun nilai-nilai Islam. Argumentasi utama artikel ini terletak pada negosiasi tradisi merisik dengan hukum islam dan adat Melayu. Tradisi ini memiliki keterkaitan historis dengan proses Islamisasi masyarakat Melayu di Medan serta mengandung nilai Islam, yaitu religius (kafā’ah), kepribadian (amanah dan kejujuran), serta sosial (musyawarah, adab bertamu dan menjamu), yang selaras dengan hukum adat Melayu dalam membangun harmonisasi keluarga dan keberlanjutan sosial.
