Abstract

This study aims to determine the appropriate concentration of AB Mix for the growth of three varieties of spinach (Amaranthus spp. L.) in DFT hydroponic system. The parameters observed were plant height (cm), number of leaves (strands), root length (cm), fresh weight of the whole plant at harvest (g) and fresh weight of the consumed plant (g). The research will begin in July-August 2023. The research used hydroponic technique with DFT (Deep Flow Technique) system using BA202 green spinach, Mira red spinach, and BA132 red spinach seeds. The research was conducted using the Completely Randomized Design (CRD) method consisting of one treatment factor and applied to three spinach varieties namely green spinach (V1), red spinach (V2), mira spinach (V3) and repeated 3 times. The treatment factor is the addition of AB Mix (AB) nutrient concentration which consists of 3 levels, namely: AB1 = Addition of AB Mix 900 ppm, AB2 = Addition of AB Mix 1,100 ppm, AB3 = Addition of AB Mix 1,300 ppm. The research was conducted in the greenhouse of the Faculty of Agriculture, National Development University "Veteran" of East Java Medan. Based on Statistical Test and Analysis of Variance, the results showed that the effect of different varieties had a significant effect with the value of F count > F table on plant height, number of leaves, fresh weight of the whole plant at harvest and fresh weight of plants consumed but had no significant effect with the value of F count < F table on plant height (cm) on root length.

Abstract

This research aims to determine the effect of mutation induction of Ethyl Methane Sulfonate (EMS) and the time interval for applying cow manure to increase cucumber growth and yield. The research was conducted in the experimental field of the Faculty of Agriculture, Universitas Pembinaan Masyarakat Indonesia, Jalan Balai Desa Marindal II Pasar 12 Medan from June to September 2023. The research used a factorial Randomized Block Design, consisting of the first factor of the EMS induction application with 3 levels, namely E0 (without EMS as control), E1 (concentration 0.50%), E2 (concentration 0.70%), and the second factor was the provision of 2.4 kg cow manure compost/plot with 3 levels, namely I0 (no cow manure), I1 (1-week interval after planting),  and I2 (2-week interval after planting). The parameters observed in this study included plant height (cm), flowering age (DAT), fruit weight persample (kg), and fruit weight perplots (kg). Diversity analysis used the ANOVA test and, if significantly different, continued with Duncan's Multiple Range Test (DMRT) at the 5% level. The research results showed that the EMS concentration at 12 WAP had a very significant effect on plant height, flowering age, fruit weight per sample, and fruit weight per plot, and the best EMS concentration was E2 (0.70%) by soaking the seeds for 3 hours. Two MST cow manure of 2.4 kg/plots had a very significant effect on plant height, flowering age, fruit weight persample, and fruit weight perplots. The interaction of the EMS mutation induction treatment and the dose of cow manure on cucumber plants had a very significant effect on plant height, flowering age, fruit weight per sample, and fruit weight per plot. Combination of E2I2 (0.70% immersion for 3 hours plus 2 WAP intervals at a dose of 2.4 kg/plots).

Abstract

Kegiatan pengabdian berupa penyuluhan, ceramah serta pelatihan untuk memberikan pemahaman Cara Menanam Cabai Rawit Menggunakan Pupuk Kandang Ayam di Dalam Polybag dengan menggunakan metode ceramah dan diskusi serta cara menghitung pupuk organik. Tujuannya adalah memberikan informasi cara, manfaat dan keunggulan menanam cabai rawit di dalam polybag serta untuk mengetahui manfaat penggunaan pupuk kandang. Karena berperan dalam memperbaiki seluruh aspek produktivitas kesuburan tanah yang berguna bagi masyarakat, mendorong kepedulian dan kesadaran masyarakat untuk kelestarian lingkungan. Dalam pelaksanaan kegiatan ini masyarakat menyambut positif tentang ceramah dan pelatihan yang diberikan. Dengan menunjukkan adanya diskusi dan banyaknya pertanyaan yang ditanyakan masyarakat tentang bagaimana cara menanam cabai rawit menggunakan pupuk kandang ayam di dalam polybag. Dimasa yang akan datang diharapkan agar masyarakat lebih memahami bagaimana pupuk kandang sebagai pupuk organik sangat penting mendukung produktifitas tanah dan tanaman karena berperan dalam memperbaiki seluruh aspek produktifitas tanah dan tanaman.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the effect of using NASA liquid organic fertilizer and growth regulators on the growth and production of pak choy (Brassica rapa L.). This study used an experimental method with a randomized block design (RAK) consisting of two main factors, namely the dosage of NASA liquid organic fertilizer and growth regulators. The dosage of liquid organic fertilizer used was 2 ml/L of water, 5 ml/L of water, and 8 ml/L of water, while the dosage of growth regulators used was 150 ml/L of water, 200 ml/L of water, and 250 ml/L of water. The parameters observed included plant height, number of leaves/sample, number of leaves/plot, and fresh weight/sample. The results showed that the combined use of NASA liquid organic fertilizer and growth regulators had a significant effect on pak choy growth parameters. Keywords: NASA liquid organic fertilizer, growth regulators, pakchoy

Abstract

This study aims to determine the effect of biostimulant and cow manure on the production of cayenne pepper plants (Capsicum frutescens L.). The research problem departs from the fluctuations in cayenne pepper production in North Sumatra, which is influenced by the availability of nutrients in the soil. The study was conducted using a Group Random Design (RAK) with two factors, namely the dose of biostimulants B0 (0 ml/L), B1 (10 ml/L), B2 (15 ml/L) and B3 (20 ml/L) with a dose of cow manure S0 (0 g/polybag), S1 (100 g/polybag), S2 (200 g/polybag) and S3 (300 g/polybag). The observed parameters are production weight per sample and per plot. Data were analyzed using ANOVA and Duncan follow-up test (DMRT) at a confidence level of 5%. The results showed that the interaction of biostimulants and cow manure had a significant effect on the production weight per sample, with the best combination of B1S3 treatment (10 ml/L of biostimulant and 300 g/polybag of cow manure) yielding an average of 103.67 g per sample. Meanwhile, the single application of cow manure had a significant effect on the production weight per plot, with the highest dose of S3 (300 g/polybag) yielding 159.75 g per plot. The conclusion of the results of this study is that the use of a combination of low-dose biostimulants and high-dose cow manure can increase the production of cayenne pepper (Capsicum frutescens L.) plants, significantly compared to no treatment or low doses of cow manure.  Keywords: cayenne pepper, biostimulant, cow manure

Abstract

This study was conducted at the experimental field of the Indonesian Community Development University (UPMI), Jalan Balai Desa Pasar 12 Marendal II, Patumbak District, Deli Serdang Regency, Medan. The elevation of the site is approximately 40 metres above sea level. The study was conducted from May to July 2025. The efforts required to meet the production needs of red onions involve enhancing soil productivity by utilising NPK fertiliser and dolomite to achieve maximum red onion production. This study employed a randomised block design (RBD) with two factors: NPK fertiliser and dolomite fertiliser. For precision, the experiment was repeated three times. The first factor was NPK fertiliser (N) with four levels: N0 = Control, N1 = 10 g/polybag, N2 = 20 g/polybag, and N3 = 30 g/plant. The second factor was dolomite (D) with four levels: D0 = Control, D1 = 10 g/polybag, D2 = 20 g/polybag, and D3 = 30 g/polybag. The results of the ANOVA test that showed significant effects were followed up with a 5% DMRT test. The response of NPK fertiliser treatment to plant height at 2 mst was significantly influenced, but at plant height observations of 3 mst, 4 mst, number of leaves, number of tubers per plant, tuber diameter, and tuber weight, there was no significant effect but an increase in each treatment. The best treatment average in this study was N2 = 20 g/plant. In this case, the dose or level of dolomite treatment should be increased further to achieve maximum production. Keywords: shallots, dolomite fertiliser, NPK fertiliser

Abstract

The application of organic fertilizers can improve soil fertility specifically on Inceptisol soils which are quite extensive but have problems with relatively low nitrogen nutrients so that the effort to overcome this is through the addition of organic matter into the soil through organic fertilization or with inorganic fertilizers. The purpose of this study was to determine the effect of the application of goat and urea fertilizer on the chemical properties of inceptisols from Rantau Selatan. This research was carried out at the Agrotechnology Practice Field, Faculty of Science and Technology, Labuhanbatu Rantau Prapat University from February to May 2021. This study used a factorial Randomized Block Design (RAK) with 2 factors, namely factor 1 urea with 4 levels, namely: U0 = 100 kg urea /ha (0 g urea/5 kg weight of oven-dry soil or BTKO), U1= 100 kg urea/ha (0.25 g urea/5 kg BTKO), U2= 200 kg urea/ha (0.50 g urea/ha) 5 kg BTKO), U3 = 300 kg urea/ha (0.75 g urea/5 kg BTKO) and factor 2, the factor of giving goat manure with 3 levels, namely: K0 = 0 tons N/ha (0 goat manure/ 5 kg of oven-dry soil weight), K1 = 10 tons N/ha (25 g Fertilizer, Goat Cage/5 kg BTKO), K2 = 20 tons N/ha (50 g Fertilizer, Goat Cage/5 kg BTKO), K3 = 30 tons N/ha (75 g Fertilizer, Goat Cage/5 kg BTKO). The results of the research application of goat manure increased the N-total dose of Urea: 0.25g and goat manure: 75g on Inceptisol soil while the interaction of urea and goat manure application increased the total N-total with Urea dose: 0.25g and goat manure: 75g) South Coast Inceptisol soil
