Abstract

Abstract

Self directed learning readiness (SDLR) is the readiness of students to learn independently. SDLR implements learning that involves a self-view that focuses on overall independence. In students with low SDLR, it is caused by a lack of motivation in learning in students and ignorance of students in learning independently. The Faculty of Medicine, Abdurrab University is one of the Faculties of Medicine that implements a learning system with the concept of student-centered learning with a problem-based learning approach. The use of PBL with a student-centered learning system at the Faculty of Medicine, Abdurrab University encourages students to have SDLR as a support for the student learning process so that they get maximum results. Based on the preliminary research that has been carried out from the results of the final exam of the module, there are no students who pass the final exam of the module. The purpose of this study is to find out whether there is a relationship between learning motivation and self-directed learning readiness (SDLR) in students of the Faculty of Medicine, Abdurrab University, Pekanbaru. Methods This study uses a type of analytical observational research with a cross sectional method. Sampling technique was carried out by stratified random sampling technique on students of the Faculty of Medicine, Abdurrab University at the academic stage. Data analysis uses the Spearman correlation test. The results of the correlation between learning motivation and self-directed learning readiness (SDLR) in students of the Faculty of Medicine, Abdurrab University (p-value <0.05) with a correlation value of 0.459 with a moderate correlation strength were obtained.

Abstract

Problem-Based Learning (PBL) is a learning approach that puts students at the center and exposes students to unsolved problems. One of the important components that is trained and useful in PBL is Self-Directed Learning (SDL) and the important factors in the implementation of the SDL is Self-Directed Learning Readiness (SDLR). Time management is an aspect of self-management that can be assessed in the SDLR. Time management is a way to see how students manage their time to complete tasks and activities well. This study aimed to analyze the relationship between time management and self-directed learning readiness in students in the Medical Education Study Program, Faculty of Medicine, Abdurrab University. This study is observational analytical with a cross-sectional design. The sampling technique was used by stratified random sampling. The total sample in this study is 206. Data analysis uses the spearman rank correlation test. The group of students who have the most high-category time management is in the class of 2020. SDLR is highest in the class of 2022. The correlation test showed a value of p <0.05. The spearman correlation value is 0.642 which means that there is a correlation between time management and the level of self-directed learning readiness. There is a significant relationship between time management and the level of self-directed learning readiness in students in the Medical Education Study Program, Faculty of Medicine, Abdurrab University.

Abstract

In Indonesia, the prevalence of cut wounds is 9.2%. Healing is affected by the wound’s length, depth, and infection, with Staphylococcus aureus being a common infecting bacterium. Starfruit leaf extract, in gel form, offers benefits like ease of application, no residue, and quick drying. This study aimed to assess the effectiveness of starfruit leaf extract gel in healing Staphylococcus aureus-infected cuts in white mice, using a true experimental design with 20 mice divided into four groups: positive control (povidone iodine), negative control (gel base), and two treatment groups with 6% and 12% starfruit leaf extract gels. Bivariate analysis used the one way ANOVA test and continued with the Post Hoc Bonferroni test. The study found the smallest incision length on day 3 was 6% starfruit leaf extract gel group with a mean of 12,505 mm2, while on days 7, 14 and 21 it was group positive control with a mean of 11,867 mm2, 1,367 mm2, 0,000 mm2. The results of the One Way Anova test on days 3, 7, 14 and 21 have a p value < 0.05, meaning there is a significant difference in wound healing between groups. Starfruit leaf extract gel is effective in healing cut wounds in white mice infected with S.aureus. Starfruit leaf extract gel with a concentration of 12% is more effective in healing long cuts infected with S.aureus than a concentration of 6%.
