Abstract

Recently Tipe II Diabetes Mellitus has been one of associated with Physical Exercise is less.One of sport are recommended in patient with Type 2 Diabetes Mellitus is walking. Howeverthe study about the effect of physical activity: walking to decrease blood glucose levels. Thepurpose of this study was to determine the influence of physical activity: walking to decreaseblood glucose levels in patients with Type II Diabetes Mellitus. The research was conducted inthe Working Area of Public Health Pauh Padang and the implementation of interventions ineach respondent’s stayed. When the study began from February to July 2013. The design of thestudy is a pre-experimental design with One group pretest-posttest Design approach. Thesampling technique was purposive sampling with a sample of 21 respondents. Data wascollected by measurement of blood glucose levels directly. The data analysis was performedwith the Paired Sampel T-Test to assess the differences before and after intervention. Theresults of this study show an average reduction in blood glucose levels with walking exercise is50 mg/dl. The result of statistical test obtained the value p = 0.000 (p <0.05) which means itcan lower blood glucose levels in patients Type II Diabetes Mellitus. Advised to make a groupsof walking exercise for patients Type II Diabetes Mellitus to controls their blood glucoselevels.Keywords: Type II Diabetes Mellitus, walking

Abstract

The purpose of this study was to determine the increase in self-efficacy of adolescents at risk through a combination of psychoeducation therapy with music at SMPN Kota Padang. The research method used in this research is quantitative research with a quasi-experimental research design pre-post test control group. The results showed that the mean score of self-efficacy before the intervention group intervention was lower than the control group. Still, after the intervention was given to adolescents, it showed psychoeducation therapy with music on changes in student self-efficacy at risk. The statistical test results obtained a P value <0.05. In conclusion, there is a significant increase in self-efficacy before and after psychoeducation therapy intervention with music. Abstract

Elderly individuals often experience physical, social, and psychosocial decline, leading to various health issues, including dementia. In Padang City, the number of dementia cases increased significantly, reaching 458 in 2022. Caregivers play a crucial role in caring for elderly people with dementia, despite facing significant physical and psychological burdens. Objective: This study aims to describe the characteristics of caregivers caring for elderly people with dementia in Padang City in 2023. Method: This descriptive observational study involved 122 caregivers as respondents. Data were collected through direct interviews and analyzed using univariate tests to observe the frequency distribution of each variable studied. The study was conducted from June 2023 to April 2024. Results: The study results showed that the most common age group of respondents (52.5%) was young adults ≤ 40 years old. The majority of caregivers had a basic/secondary education level (97%), and 20.5% had higher education. Regarding marital status, 18.9% were unmarried, 27.9% were divorced, and 54.1% were married. Conclusions: The characteristics of caregivers in Padang City indicate that age, education, marital status, and gender are important variables influencing the quality of care for elderly people with dementia. This study highlights the need for specific support for caregivers to enhance their skills and knowledge, as well as interventions to alleviate the physical and psychological burdens they experience.
