Abstract

Bamboo is increasingly recognized as a sustainable forest product due to its rapid growth, versatility, and potential for contributing to environmental conservation. As global concerns about deforestation, climate change, and resource depletion grow, bamboo presents an alternative material that is both eco-friendly and economically viable. However, there is still limited research on its full potential, particularly in terms of its environmental benefits and commercial applications. This study aims to explore the potential of bamboo as a sustainable forest product by evaluating its environmental benefits, economic feasibility, and various commercial uses. The research also examines how bamboo cultivation can contribute to sustainable forest management and biodiversity conservation. A mixed-methods approach was used, combining a literature review, field surveys, and interviews with bamboo industry experts. Data were collected from bamboo cultivation sites, assessing growth rates, carbon sequestration potential, and local economic impacts. Qualitative interviews provided insights into the challenges and opportunities within the bamboo industry. The study found that bamboo grows rapidly, sequesters significant amounts of carbon, and provides an income-generating opportunity for rural communities. Bamboo-based products, such as construction materials and textiles, are gaining popularity due to their eco-friendly nature. However, challenges remain in terms of market development and supply chain infrastructure. Bamboo has substantial potential as a sustainable forest product that can play a key role in environmental conservation and economic development. Future research should focus on scaling up bamboo cultivation and improving market access to maximize its benefits.

Abstract

In recent years, social media has emerged as a powerful tool that shapes consumer behavior globally, especially in emerging markets like Indonesia. The growing prevalence of social media platforms has transformed the way consumers make purchasing decisions, engage with brands, and share their experiences. Despite the widespread use of social media in Indonesia, its specific influence on consumer behavior remains underexplored in academic research. This study aims to analyze the impact of social media use on consumer behavior in Indonesia. Specifically, it investigates how social media affects consumers' purchasing decisions, brand perception, and online shopping habits. A mixed-methods approach was used for this research. A survey was conducted with 500 Indonesian consumers who actively engage with social media platforms. The data collected were analyzed using descriptive and inferential statistical techniques, including regression analysis, to assess the relationship between social media usage and consumer behavior. The findings indicate a significant positive relationship between social media use and consumer purchasing decisions. Consumers who frequently engage with brand-related content on platforms like Instagram, Facebook, and Twitter tend to have higher brand recall and are more likely to make purchases based on recommendations from influencers or online ads. Social media plays a pivotal role in shaping consumer behavior in Indonesia, influencing both direct and indirect purchasing decisions.

Abstract

First responders are routinely exposed to traumatic events, placing them at high risk for developing mental health disorders such as PTSD, anxiety, and burnout. Despite the critical role these professionals play, mental health interventions remain limited. Trauma-Focused Therapy (TFT) has shown promise in treating trauma-related disorders, yet its efficacy for first responders has not been extensively studied. This research aims to evaluate the effectiveness of TFT in improving the mental health outcomes of first responders, specifically in reducing PTSD, anxiety, depression, and burnout symptoms. The study employed a randomized controlled design, with 120 first responders assigned to either the experimental group receiving TFT or the control group. Pre-, post-, and six-month follow-up assessments were conducted using standardized instruments such as the Clinician-Administered PTSD Scale (CAPS), Beck Anxiety Inventory (BAI), Beck Depression Inventory (BDI), and Maslach Burnout Inventory (MBI). Results indicated significant reductions in PTSD, anxiety, depression, and burnout scores in the experimental group, with improvements sustained at the six-month follow-up. The control group showed minimal changes. These findings suggest that TFT is an effective intervention for enhancing the mental well-being of first responders. The study highlights the importance of incorporating TFT into mental health support systems for first responders.

Abstract

Post-harvest losses are a significant challenge in the agricultural sector in Russia, affecting food security and farmers' incomes. Post-harvest storage and processing technologies, such as cold storage and modified atmosphere treatment, have been introduced as solutions to reduce yield loss. However, the effectiveness and adoption of this technology has not been evenly distributed across Russia's agricultural regions. This study aims to analyze the impact of post-harvest storage and processing technologies on the reduction of yield losses in several major agricultural regions in Russia. In addition, this study explores the challenges in the adoption of such technologies by small and medium farmers. This study uses a qualitative descriptive method with a case study approach in several major agricultural regions in Russia. Data were collected through in-depth interviews, questionnaires, and reviews of relevant literature. The analysis was carried out using thematic and descriptive statistical methods to evaluate the effectiveness of the technology in reducing post-harvest losses. The results of the study show that the application of post-harvest storage and processing technology is able to reduce yield losses by up to 50%. However, there is a gap in technology adoption in rural areas that lack supporting infrastructure. Post-harvest storage and processing technologies in Russia have great potential to reduce yield losses and improve food security. Policy and infrastructure support is needed to expand the adoption of these technologies across Russia's agricultural regions.

Abstract

The electrochemical reduction of carbon dioxide (CO?) is a critical strategy for mitigating climate change and producing value-added chemicals, yet the development of highly selective catalysts remains a primary challenge. This study aimed to conduct a rigorous comparative analysis of three distinct classes of "smart" catalysts a molecular cobalt complex, a metal-organic framework (MOF), and a single-atom copper catalyst (Cu-SAC) to elucidate the relationship between molecular design and lab-scale performance. The catalysts were synthesized, characterized via XRD and XAS, and evaluated for electrocatalytic CO? reduction in a flow cell reactor. The results showed that the Cu-SAC exhibited superior performance, achieving a Faradaic efficiency for ethylene (C?H?) exceeding 70% at a low cell voltage, significantly outperforming the MOF and molecular catalysts, which primarily produced CO and formate. This high selectivity was directly correlated with the optimized coordination environment of the isolated Cu sites. This comparative analysis confirms that rational design at the atomic level is a highly effective strategy for steering reaction pathways towards valuable multi-carbon products, providing a crucial benchmark for future catalyst development.

Abstract

Background. This research explores the role of rituals and religion in shaping individual and group identities in various social settings. The background of this research is based on the role of rituals in connecting individuals with their communities and cultural heritage, which gives a deep meaning to collective identity. Purpose. This quantitative study aimed to investigate the preferences of Thai as a foreign language (TFL) learner for ten commonly discussed types of OCF. Specifically, it examined whether these preferences are influenced by four learner variables: proficiency level, first language (L1), foreign language classroom anxiety (FLCA), and foreign language enjoyment (FLE). Method. The study involved 288 university students from Chinese, Japanese, and Korean TFL settings, and the data from questionnaires were analysed using appropriate statistical methods. Results. The findings indicate that, regardless of proficiency level, L1, FLCA, or FLE level, learners prefer more explicit OCF techniques, such as metalinguistics feedback and explicit correction. However, Korean undergraduates scored lower in the majority of OCF strategies (i.e., ignoring, elicitation, recast, explanation, and public feedback) compared to the other participants. Conclusion. This study has significant implications for instructional practices in TFL settings and for L2 lecturers in the classroom. By understanding learners’ preferences for OCF, educators can tailor their instructional approaches to meet the specific needs of their students.

Abstract

Background. Rapid tourism development in southern Bali has transformed the region into one of Indonesia’s most dynamic economic zones while simultaneously placing immense pressure on its coastal ecosystems. The expansion of hotels, restaurants, and recreational facilities has led to land-use change, increased waste discharge, shoreline modification, and coral reef degradation. The resulting imbalance between economic growth and ecological stability threatens the long-term sustainability of both the tourism industry and local livelihoods. Purpose. This study aims to examine the relationship between tourism development and coastal ecosystem degradation in southern Bali, focusing on spatial, ecological, and socio-economic dimensions. Method. A mixed-method approach was adopted, combining satellite imagery analysis, field observations, and stakeholder interviews. Spatial analysis using GIS detected changes in coastal land cover between 2010 and 2023, while qualitative data from 40 key informants including local residents, tourism operators, and environmental officials were analyzed thematically to understand community perceptions and management responses. Quantitative environmental indicators, such as water quality and coral coverage, were also integrated to assess ecological decline. Results. The findings reveal a significant correlation between the intensity of tourism infrastructure development and the deterioration of coastal ecosystems. Coral coverage declined by 38%, while mangrove areas decreased by 22% within the study period. Stakeholder interviews indicate that weak environmental regulation and poor waste management practices accelerate this degradation. Conclusion. The study concludes that sustainable tourism in southern Bali requires stronger spatial planning, community-based coastal management, and stricter enforcement of environmental standards to balance economic benefits with ecosystem preservation.
