Abstract

Forest Health Monitoring (FHM) is a forest monitoring action to analyze the condition of forest stands. The purpose of this study was to assess the health level of teak stands, namely by indicators of tree damage and tree crown conditions and to find out information about limiting factors that affect the health level of teak forest stands. Collecting data using the sample method, forest health monitoring (FHM) method of 3 (three) cluster plots with a total of 3 Ha of observations from a total area of 138 Ha. The data collected are primary data and secondary data. Based on the results of the study, the most common damage to trees was termite nests with a percentage of 25% and the lowest was broken roots with a percentage of 1% while for the location of the most damage was the top of the tree trunk with a percentage of 32%, and the lowest namely the lower part of the tree and the top of the tree trunk with a percentage of 0%. Whereas for tree crown damage with each VCR value, namely for a good VCR value with 90 trees (12%), moderate VCR value with 456 trees (54% and VCR value) low with 220 trees (29%) and there is no VCR value 4. Based on the research, there is a lot of damage because the research was carried out in the dry season so that a lot of damage was found where the trees shed their leaves to reduce evaporation so that it could affect the condition of the tree crown. So that in order to maintain the health of the forest, the authorities and the people living in the Jati Udukama forest area will continue to preserve the forest.

Abstract

Eucalyptus (Melaleuca leucadendra) is the result of a non-timber forest that utilized its leaves to be used as eucalyptus oil (cajaput oil) which will be used as medicine, insecticides and fragrances. The propagation of Eucalyptus is done in order to meet the needs of eucalyptus oil (cajaput oil) in Indonesia. The aim of this research was to determine the appropriate concentration of liquid organic fertilizer of cow urine on the growth of eucalyptus seedlings. This research was conducted at the permanent nursery Fatukoa in January to April 2020. The research method uses Complete Random Design (CRD) with 4 treatments that are A0 (0ml/1000ml), A1 (150ml/1000ml), A2 (250ml/1000ml) and A3 (350ml/1000ml). The parameters of the observation measured are the height of the plant, diameter, leaf number, dry weight and the percentage of life of eucalyptus seedlings. To find out the difference between the treatment it was tested Honestly Significant Difference (HSD). The results showed that application of liquid organic fertilizer cow urine is significantly affected to parameters of plant height, leaf number and dry weight, but is not significant affect to parameters of diameter and percentage of life. The concentration of 150ml/1000ml provides better growth results than other concentrations.

Abstract

Agroforestry is a combination of forestry plants with agricultural crops or livestock in one plot of land. Agroforestry systems provide many advantages in terms of economic and social ecology, one of which is providing income for farmers. This income is influenced by the composition of the type of agroforestry. This study aims to determine the composition of farmers' agroforestry, income per composition and the largest income of all compositions. This research was conducted in the village of Romarea, District of Ende. To analyze the largest income composition of the respondents' agroforestry, each composition was grouped, then calculated the income per composition and determined the largest income from all compositions. The results of the research obtained are that there are 19 agroofrestri compositions in Romarea Village, Nangapanda District, Ende Regency. There are 10 compositions that are above the average and 9 compositions that are below the average income. The largest income is in composition 5 with the types of plants planted namely cocoa, vanilla, candlenut, clove, areca nut, lamtoro, gamal and mahogany as well as livestock, namely goat and buffalo.

Abstract

Plant propagation is easy to do and does not require a lot of money it is propagation through seeds (generative). Efforts that can be made to reproduce teak plants by vegetative propagation used the seeding of tree shoots or by shoot – cuttings. In the propagation of shoot – cuttings that need to be considered is the use of the type of media planting and the use of growth hormones to accelerate root growth. This study was conducted to determine the interaction between the application of media planting and the duration of immersion the substance of Rootone-F on the growth of teak (Tectona grandis L.) shoot – cuttings. The experimental design carried out was a 2 (two) – factorial factor experiment that arranged completely randomly. The first factor was the length of immersion in the growth substance of Rootone-F, which consisted of 3 (three) levels, namely, direct immersion, 5 minutes of immersion, and 10 minutes of immersion; the second factor is the influence of planting media which consists of several doses on 5 (five) media planting, which includes, 1 – 2.5 kg of soil, 2.5 kg of sand, 1 – 2 kg of husk charcoal, 1 – 2 kg of sand, and 1 – 2 kg of compost. The results showed that the interaction of the application of Rootone-F and the media planting showed a significant effect on the age of the shoots – out and the length of the shoots. The factor of giving Rootone-F and media planting had a very significant effect on the parameter of observing the number of leaves.
