Abstract

This research describes the need to apply the active, innovative, creative, effective, and fun learning (PAIKEM) methods in learning in Sunday School at the Evangelical Christian Church in Halmahera (GMIH) Genesis Congregation Tobelo City Region. The method used is qualitative, with observation as a data collection technique. The object of observation is conveying God's word during Sunday School services. The results of the research show that the PAIKEM methods need to be applied in learning at the Sunday School at the Evangelical Christian Church in Halmahera (GMIH) Genesis Congregation, Tobelo City Region because the method used is telling stories or lectures, resulting in Sunday School children quickly getting bored and not focused when learning about the word of God.

Abstract

This study examines the role of the Evangelical Christian Church in Halmahera (GMIH) in providing political education to its congregation ahead of the 2024 General Election in Tobelo District, focusing on how the church educates its members about politics following Christian values. The qualitative research method, with a case study approach, involves in-depth interviews with five GMIH synod leaders. Data were analyzed using thematic analysis techniques. The results indicate that GMIH has successfully implemented effective political education, emphasizing the understanding of rights and obligations in democracy, integrating Christian values, and using information technology. The church also plays a crucial role in maintaining the harmony of the congregation and avoiding practices of money politics. In conclusion, the political education provided by GMIH enhances the congregation's awareness and ethical political participation, supporting the church's goal of promoting justice and goodness in society.

Abstract

Abstract: Christian education in a multicultural society faces the challenge of remaining faithful to its theological identity while remaining relevant to a pluralistic reality. This article examines the gap between the church's theological awareness of its calling to peace and the pedagogical practices of faith education, which remain transmissive and normative within the Halmahera Evangelical Church (GMIH). Through an analytical-constructive literature review of educational theology, contextual theology, and multicultural pedagogy, this study shows that theological foundations, including creation theology, incarnation, trinity, and missio Dei, have not been systematically translated into curricula and educational strategies that are responsive to plurality. As a major contribution, this article presents a conceptual model of contextual multicultural Christian education that integrates five components: normative theological foundations, sociocultural context analysis, multidimensional goals for faith formation, integrative learning content, and dialogical pedagogical strategies. This model emphasises the need to shift from doctrinal transmission to dialogical, communal transformation as part of the church's ecclesial calling. Abstrak: Pendidikan Kristiani di masyarakat multikultural menghadapi tantangan untuk tetap setia pada identitas teologis sekaligus relevan dengan realitas plural. Artikel ini mengkaji kesenjangan antara kesadaran teologis gereja tentang panggilan perdamaian dan praktik pedagogis pendidikan iman yang masih bersifat transmisif-normatif dalam konteks Gereja Masehi Injili di Halmahera (GMIH). Melalui kajian pustaka analitis-konstruktif terhadap literatur teologi pendidikan, teologi kontekstual, dan pedagogi multikultural, studi ini menunjukkan bahwa fondasi teologis yang mencakup teologi penciptaan, inkarnasi, trinitas, dan missio Dei belum diterjemahkan secara sistematis ke dalam kurikulum dan strategi pendidikan yang responsif terhadap pluralitas. Sebagai kontribusi utama, artikel ini menawarkan model konseptual pendidikan Kristiani multikultural kontekstual yang mengintegrasikan lima komponen: landasan teologis normatif, analisis konteks sosial-budaya, tujuan formasi iman multidimensional, konten pembelajaran integratif, dan strategi pedagogis dialogis. Model ini menegaskan perlunya pergeseran dari transmisi doktrinal menuju transformasi komunal yang dialogis sebagai bagian dari panggilan eklesial gereja

Abstract

This research aims to analyze the practice of social justice counseling and pastoral counseling services in Indonesia. In addition, from the results of empirical and theoretical understanding, a conceptual framework for social justice counseling with the pastoral function of Indonesia will be created. This framework is built to have different characteristics as Rats, and Pedersen developed social justice. To produce a comprehensive and natural analysis, the method used in this research is a qualitative method with a case study design. The study results show that the church in the current context still practices the counseling model as pastoral counseling grows and develops without regard to the context in which pastoral counseling is carried out. In addition, the counseling model that is applied only focuses on strengthening the counselee's spirituality, while other aspects that come into contact with the counselee's daily real life, such as sociological, biological, and psychological conditions, receive less serious attention. Based on these weaknesses, a conceptual framework was designed that accommodated all the conditions often faced by counselees so that a conceptual framework for social justice counseling was built with a more comprehensive and empowering Indonesian pastoral function. AbstrakTujuan dari penelitian ini ingin menganalisis praktik pelayanan social justice counseling dan konseling pastoral di Indonesia. Selain itu, dari hasil pemahaman empirik dan teoretis akan dibuat sebuah kerangka kerja konseptual social justice konseling dengan fungsi pastoral Indonesia. Kerangka kerja ini dibangun memiliki ciri khas yang berbeda sebagaimana social justice dikembangkan oleh Rats dan Pedersen. Untuk menghasilkan sebuah analisis yang komprehsnif dan natural maka metode yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah metode kualitatif dengan desain studi kasus. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa gereja dalam konteks kekinian masih mempraktikkan model konseling sebagaimana awal mula konseling pastoral tuumbuh dan berkembang tanpa memperhatikan konteks di mana konseling pastoral itu dilaksanakan. Selain itu, model konseling yang diterapkan hanya berfokus pada penguatan spiritual konseli, sedangkan aspek lain yang bersentuhan dengan kehidupan nyata konseli sehari-hari, seperti kondisi sosiologis, bilogis, dan psikologis kurang mendapat perhatian secara serius. Berdasarkan pada kelemahan itulah maka didesain sebuah kerangka kerja konseptual yang mengakomidir semua kondisi yang sering dihadapi oleh konseli, sehingga dibangunlah sebuah kerangka kerja konseptual social justice counseling dengan fungsi pastoral Indonesia yang lebih komprehensif dan memberdayakan.

Abstract

Pluralism and multiculturalism often present significant challenges in societal life. As a result, education emerges as a powerful tool for addressing the realities of pluralistic and multicultural societies while bridging the gap between social realities and pedagogical perspectives. Using a qualitative research method, this study provides an in-depth understanding of how Christian Education at the University of Halmahera accommodates and integrates the values of pluralism and multiculturalism into its curriculum and teaching practices. With a pluralistic and multicultural perspective, this article analyzes how students at the University of Halmahera build their understanding of religious and cultural diversity through a learning process based on reflection, social interaction, and real-life experiences. This research indicates that Christian education with a pluralistic and multicultural perspective can significantly promote tolerance and understanding of diversity, thereby supporting the creation of a more harmonious and peaceful society at the University of Halmahera and its surroundings.   Abstrak Pluralisme dan multikulutural seringkali menjadi persoalan serius dalam kehidupan sosial kemasyarakatan. Oleh karenanya, pendidikan menjadi salah satu alat yang dapat digunakan untuk mendialogkan realitas pluralis-multikultural sekaligus menjadi jembatan penghubung antara realitas sosial dengan wawasan pedagogis. Dengan menggunakan metode penelitian kualitatif, penelitian ini menyajikan pemahaman mendalam tentang bagaimana pendidikan kristiani di Universitas Halmahera mengakomodasi dan mengintegrasikan nilai-nilai pluralisme dan multikulturalisme dalam kurikulum dan praktik pengajaran. Dengan perspektif pluralis dan multikultural, artikel ini menganalisis bagaimana mahasiswa Universitas Halmahera membangun pemahaman mereka tentang keberagaman agama dan budaya melalui proses pembelajaran yang berbasis pada refleksi, interaksi sosial, dan pengalaman nyata. Hasil penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa pendidikan kristiani dengan wawasan pluralis dan multikultural dapat berkontribusi signifikan dalam membentuk sikap toleransi dan pengertian terhadap keberagaman, sehingga mendukung terciptanya masyarakat yang lebih harmonis dan damai di Universitas Halmahera dan sekitarnya.
