Abstract

This research aims to analyze the process of English language learning supervision for certified teachers, the problems faced by certified English teachers in the supervision process, and the impact of English language learning supervision on certified teachers. The study used a qualitative research design, with data collection methods including interviews with English teachers and the school principal. The findings revealed that the certified English teacher demonstrated strong professionalism by using interactive methods such as games, ice-breaking activities, and teaching media like laptops and projectors. The teacher also displayed effective classroom management that encouraged student participation. However, the main challenge identified was students limited English vocabulary, which hindered their learning fluency. Supervision was found to have a positive impact on improving teachers’ administrative discipline and teaching quality. It encouraged teachers to be more organized, innovative, and responsive to educational developments. The principal appreciated the English teacher’s consistency and dedication, especially in implementing improvements after supervision. Nevertheless, the study also found that the lack of a structured and continuous supervision process could reduce its effectiveness. Therefore, a balanced supervision model that is both flexible and well-structured is essential to ensure the effectiveness of Englis language learning supervision for certified teachers. This research is expected to serve as a reference for principal and policymakers in developing more effective and sustainable supervision systems.

Abstract

This study discusses the role of Ende Lio customary law in resolving cases of Paru Dheko (elopement) Marriage in Bokasape Village, Wolowaru Subdistrict, and Ende Regency. The background of this research stems from concerns about the deviation of marriage practices from the prevailing customary rules. Paru Dheko occurs without family consent and without going through customary stages, and is therefore viewed as a violation of traditional norms. The study employs a qualitative method with an ethnographic approach, conducted through in-depth interviews with elopement actors, traditional leaders, and community members. The findings indicate that Paru Dheko is triggered by factors such as parental disapproval, premarital pregnancy, differences in social status, and economic limitations. Although the process does not follow customary procedures, the resolution is still carried out through customary means with mediation by traditional leaders (Mosalaki), particularly in determining the belis (dowry) and marriage arrangements. Customary law remains the main guideline for maintaining harmony, resolving conflicts, and preserving the cultural values of the Ende Lio community.  Keywords: Marriage; Paru Dheko; Customary Law

Abstract

This study examines the implementation of the KIP-K Scholarship policy and students' perceptions of the program at the University of Muhammadiyah Maumere. A qualitative method with a case study approach was employed. Data were gathered through interviews, documentation, and questionnaires involving the Vice Rector, Dean of FKIP, Student Bureau, Finance Bureau, and KIP-K recipients from the 2022–2024 cohorts. The findings reveal that the program was implemented through six stages: socialization, registration, selection, data verification, fund disbursement, and evaluation. The process generally complied with applicable regulations through an online-based system and centralized selection. Nevertheless, several obstacles emerged, including limited quotas, low discipline among some students, differing recipient priorities, and administrative-related delays in fund disbursement. The university also imposed sanctions such as recipient replacement and fund refunds for violating students. From the students' standpoint, most respondents held positive perceptions of the socialization, registration, benefits, and management of the program. The scholarship was deemed effective in alleviating educational costs and enhancing students' motivation and academic performance. Although the program has been implemented effectively, improvements are still required in transparency, supervision, and timeliness of fund disbursement to make the program more optimal, targeted, and sustainable.
