Abstract

Identitas etnis merupakan bentuk karya sastra yang dikontruksi secara budaya. Masuknya budaya asing (barat) di Indonesia pada era globalisasi menimbulkan sikap upaya mempertahankan identitas etnis ini sendiri atau bahkan sikap negatif dari pengaruh budaya lain yang timbul di masyarakat. Identitas etnis mencakup beberapa dimensi, yaitu: (1) identifikasi diri; (2) pengetahuan tentang budaya etnis (tradisi, adat istiadat, nilai, dan perilaku); dan (3) perasaan tentang menjadi bagian dari kelompok etnis tertentu. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode kualitatif dengan mengkonstruksikan unsur struktural cerpen melalui pendekatan cultural studies dengan kajian critical discourse analysis (CDA) untuk mendeskripsikan bagaimanakah identitas etnis dalam cerpen “Sore Sebelum Kenduri” serta memahami fenomena identitas etnis secara lebih komprehensif dengan melihat identitas etnis sebagai refleksi sejarah atau kontruksi sosial, dan bagaimana relasi kuasa dibangun dalam teks. Teknik pengumpulan data dilakukan dengan mengunduh cerpen melalui e-paper media online Republika, kemudian mendeskripsikan, menganalisis, dan menafsirkan berdasarkan unsur struktural cerpen, cultural studies, critical discourse analysis (CDA). Pada tahap CDA identitas etnis dilihat dari unsur linguistik melalui tata bahasa (aspek gramatikal) yang menggambarkan sistem kekerabatan dan gotong royong. Pada dimensi praktik wacana tahap produksi teks memperlihatkan latar belakang penulis dan interpretasi yang dihubungkan dengan proses produksi dan konsumsi teks yang menjunjung nilai-nilai kemanusiaan dan kebudayaan. Pada dimensi praktik sosial budaya pada aspek (situasional,institusional,sosial) memperlihatkan budaya kenduri yang masih mengakar dengan memaparkan berbagai peristiwa yang membawa pengaruh bagi masyarakat.

Abstract

ABSTRAK: Karya sastra yang dikontruksi budaya disebut juga identitas etnis. Beberapa aspek membentuk identitas etnis, yaitu: (1) identitas diri sendiri; (2) pengetahuan tentang budaya etnis (tradisi, adat istiadat, nilai, dan perilaku); dan (3) perasaan bahwa seseorang termasuk dalam kelompok etnis tertentu. Metode kualitatif digunakan dalam penelitian ini untuk mengkonstruksikan elemen struktural cerpen melalui pendekatan cultural studies yang menggunakan critical discourse analysis (CDA). Tujuan dari penelitian ini untuk memperluas pemahaman kita tentang fenomena identitas etnis dengan melihat identitas etnis sebagai refleksi sejarah atau kontruksi sosial, serta bagaimana hubungan kuasa dibangun dalam teks. Metode pengumpulan data terdiri dari mengunduh cerpen dari media online, yang kemudian dideskripsikan, dianalisis, dan ditafsirkan sesuai dengan elemen struktural cerpen, identitas etnis, dan CDA. Identitas etnis dilihat pada tahap CDA melalui komponen linguistik melalui tata bahasa dan praktik wacana berupa produksi dan konsumsi teks, serta relasi kuasa berupa dinamika antar karakter, setting cerita, dan tema yang diangkat, diantaranya konflik interpersonal, penindasan dan diskriminasi, serta asimilasi etnis antara kelompok mayoritas dan minoritas.

Abstract

Penggunaan Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menganalisis gaya retorika dalam ceramah “The Forgotten Sunnah” oleh Ustadz Hanan Attaki, dengan fokus pada bentuk serta fungsi gaya bahasa dalam membangun komunikasi persuasif di era dakwah digital. Penelitian ini menggunakan pendekatan kualitatif dengan metode deskriptif melalui teknik analisis konten. Data penelitian berupa tuturan ceramah yang ditranskripsikan dari video YouTube dan dianalisis melalui tahap pengkodean, klasifikasi, hingga interpretasi. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa terdapat 50 data gaya bahasa yang terbagi ke dalam tiga aspek utama. Pada aspek pilihan kata, gaya bahasa percakapan menjadi yang paling dominan dengan 30 data, diikuti gaya tak resmi sebanyak 20 data, sementara gaya resmi tidak ditemukan. Pada aspek nada, ditemukan 28 data nada mulia, 15 data nada menengah, serta 7 data kombinasi nada menengah dan mulia, sedangkan nada sederhana tidak muncul. Pada aspek struktur kalimat, gaya paralelisme mendominasi dengan 20 data, diikuti antitesis sebanyak 15 data, repetisi 8 data, perbandingan 3 data, metafora 1 data, serta kombinasi gaya sebanyak 3 data. Hasil ini menunjukkan bahwa gaya retorika yang digunakan cenderung komunikatif, persuasif, dan dekat dengan audiens, terutama melalui penggunaan bahasa percakapan dan nada mulia yang mampu membangun keterlibatan emosional. Selain itu, penggunaan struktur seperti paralelisme dan antitesis memperkuat kejelasan dan penegasan pesan. Dengan demikian, gaya retorika dalam ceramah ini tidak hanya berfungsi sebagai alat penyampaian pesan, tetapi juga sebagai strategi untuk memengaruhi pemahaman dan sikap audiens secara efektif dalam konteks dakwah digital.

Abstract

Abstract: This study is motivated by the rapid growth of digital preaching through YouTube. Digital preaching requires persuasive communication skills so religious messages can be received, understood, and practiced by audiences. This study aims to analyze the use of Aristotelian rhetoric, namely ethos, pathos, and logos, in Ustaz Adi Hidayat’s sermon on YouTube. The research method used is descriptive qualitative with a rhetorical analysis approach. The data consist of sermon excerpts, timestamps, and rhetorical evidence showing credibility, emotion, and logic. Data were collected through listening and note-taking techniques. The data were analyzed by classifying sermon evidence into ethos, pathos, and logos. The results show that ethos appears through religious openings, Islamic terminology, Qur’anic quotations, Arabic linguistic explanation, and mastery of scholars’ history. Pathos appears through prayers, sacred expressions, spiritual warnings, motivation to think, religious pride, and invitations to feel the miracle of the Qur’an. Logos appears through linguistic reasoning, Qur’anic evidence, hadith, comparison, numbers, and practical examples. These three elements make Ustaz Adi Hidayat’s sermon persuasive, communicative, and relevant in digital preaching. The sermon shows effective religious communication in digital space depends on message content, language strategy, scientific depth, emotional touch, and clear argument structure for broad audiences today worldwide online.

Abstract

This study aims to identify, describe, and dismantle in depth the utilization of rhetorical elements namely ethos (credibility), pathos (emotional appeal), and logos (logical reasoning) applied by Ustadz Hanan Attaki in his lecture on the importance of remembering death. The methodological foundation relies on a qualitative approach using qualitative content analysis to interpret the meanings, symbols, and rhetorical weight contained within the lecture text. Data collection was carried out through library research by reviewing relevant scientific literature and compiling a verbatim transcript from the video "Mengingat Kematian (Sharing Ramadhan)" on a digital platform as the primary source. Data analysis followed an interactive model consisting of data reduction, data display, and conclusion drawing to ensure objective and theoretically grounded findings. The results of the analysis demonstrate that Ustadz Hanan Attaki harmoniously and effectively integrates the three rhetorical pillars to construct a highly persuasive da'wah message for the younger generation. Ethos is established through practical wisdom (phronesis) by textually mastering religious proofs, moral virtue (arete) using inclusive and egalitarian language, and goodwill (eunoia) through deep empathy toward human negligence. Pathos is strategically managed by flipping the scary stereotype of death into a gentle medium for softening the heart, utilizing calculated fear appeals regarding sudden mortality, and presenting beautiful emotional comfort about the peaceful nature of the barzakh realm. Logos is systematically reconstructed using deductive reasoning based on sacred texts, clear causal relationships regarding the function of remembering death, categorical syllogisms on the urgency of immediate repentance, and inductive empirical proof from global events. This comprehensive rhetorical synergy successfully transforms a heavy, eschatological topic into an accessible, logical, and deeply touching spiritual reflection that motivates immediate behavioral reform.

Abstract

This study aims to describe, identify, and analyze in depth the manifestation of ethos, pathos, and logos in Ustaz Abdul Somad's lecture on the importance of maintaining morals. The research method applied is a qualitative approach with a descriptive type to systematically outline linguistic facts and communication strategies. The data collection process relies on literature review techniques to gather trusted supporting scientific literature. Data reduction, data presentation, and conclusion drawing are utilized as analytical stages to dissect the entire lecture recording based on Aristotle's rhetorical triangle theory. The results show that the element of ethos or credibility is built through the adjustment of local sarong clothing, a humble attitude toward elders, respectful etiquette toward Madurese kiai, and authoritative hadith references. The element of pathos or emotional appeal is manifested through dramatic narratives of a mother's struggle in giving birth, the physical sacrifice of a father in the orchard, the story of his own mother's passing, and the analogy of an old Quranic mushaf for the elderly to arouse the congregation's pity and regret. The element of logos or logical argument is proven through the syllogism of moral priority over material wealth, the law of direct causal retribution for rebellious children, and textual historical proof regarding the inclusivity of the prophet's social relations with non-Muslims. The synchronization of these three rhetorical elements successfully packages weighty morality material into a logical yet deeply touching spiritual presentation for the congregation.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the use of Aristotle’s rhetorical strategies, namely ethos, pathos, and logos, in President Prabowo Subianto’s speech entitled “For Too Long, the People Have Only Been Spectators of Their Own Wealth” delivered during the commemoration of Pancasila Day on June 1, 2026. The study employed a qualitative method with a rhetorical analysis approach. The research data consisted of the speech transcript obtained from the speech video published on YouTube. Data were collected through documentation, observation, note-taking, and classification based on the categories of ethos, pathos, and logos. The data were analyzed descriptively by identifying and interpreting rhetorical elements contained in the speech. The findings reveal that the speech incorporates all three Aristotelian rhetorical appeals. Ethos is reflected in Prabowo’s emphasis on his role and responsibility as the President of the Republic of Indonesia and his references to the national figure Sukarno to strengthen the credibility of his message. Pathos is demonstrated through efforts to evoke audience emotions by portraying economic inequality, the condition of people who have not fully benefited from the nation’s natural resources, and concerns for vulnerable social groups. Logos is evident in the rational arguments regarding economic disparities, the use of Article 33 of the 1945 Constitution as a constitutional foundation, and the presentation of government programs as solutions to national economic challenges. The study concludes that the combination of ethos, pathos, and logos is effectively utilized to gain public support for the concept of Pancasila Economy and the national development agenda proposed by President Prabowo Subianto.

Abstract

This study aims to describe the use of Aristotle's rhetoric including ethos, pathos, and logos in the video of Ustaz Abdul Somad's Eid al-Adha sermon entitled "Wealth is Only a Deposit, Have You Sacrificed?". This study uses a qualitative approach with a content analysis method. The research data source is a sermon video uploaded through the Ustaz Abdul Somad Official YouTube channel. The research data is in the form of speech containing elements of ethos, pathos, and logos, which are collected through listening and note-taking techniques. Data analysis is carried out through the stages of identification, classification, interpretation, and presentation of data based on Aristotle's rhetorical theory. The results show that there are 15 data consisting of 4 ethos data, 6 pathos data, and 5 logos data. The ethos element is shown through the use of verses from the Qur'an, hadith, opinions of scholars, and stories of Islamic figures that serve to strengthen the speaker's credibility. The pathos element is seen through speech that is able to arouse the audience's emotions, such as emotion, gratitude, empathy, admiration, and compassion. Meanwhile, the element of logos is manifested through logical argumentation, causal relationships, solutions, and rational explanations of religious concepts. Research findings indicate that these three rhetorical elements are used in an integrated manner, increasing the effectiveness of the delivery of the da'wah message and strengthening the persuasive power of Ustaz Abdul Somad's sermon.
