Abstract

The research aimed to look at the effect of induction. The effect of administering ethanol extract of gaharu leaves (Aquilaria malaccensis Lamk) on the histopathological picture of the lungs of white mice (Mus musculus) induced by carbamate class insecticides. The method used was truly experimental, carbamate induction via the intramuscular route with a dose of 14.4 Mg/BW and agarwood extract administered via the oral route with doses of 100, 200, and 300 Mg/BW, the duration of each treatment was 15 days. After treatment, preparations were made of the lungs using the paraffin block staining method with hematoxylin-eosin, the thickness of the alveolar septa and the presence of alveolar macrophages were measured. The results of the research showed that there was a thickening of the alveolar septa after induction of carbamate insecticide at a dose of 14.4 mg/BW with an average thickness of 21.62 µm compared to the healthy control group of 12.61, in addition to an increase in the percentage of neutrophils of 48.66 compared to the healthy controls of 23.33 which was caused by inflammation in the mice's bodies. , a decrease in the thickness of alveolar septa was caused by the administration of ethanol extract of agarwood leaves at a dose of 100/200/300 mg/BW with an average thickness of 15.18, 13.73, 15.57 µm compared to the negative control of 21.62 µm. Thus, it can be concluded that there is an influence of agarwood leaf extract on lung histopathology -lungs of mice induced with carbamate class insecticides.

Abstract

To maximize production, catfish farmers must optimize feed quality as one of the key factors supporting catfish growth and development. This study aimed to analyze the effect of adding singkil leaf flour (Premna corymbosa) to feed on the growth performance of Sangkuriang catfish (Clarias gariepinus var. Sangkuriang). The research was conducted from February to April using a randomized group design with four treatments and six replications. The treatments consisted of 100% pellets (P1), 100% singkil leaf flour (P2), 80% pellets + 20% singkil leaf flour (P3), and 70% pellets + 30% singkil leaf flour (P4). The analysis of singkil leaf flour showed a moisture content of 6.5%, ash content of 9.3%, protein 2.6%, fat 0.7%, and total carbohydrates 80.9%. The best growth performance was observed in the P3 treatment (80% pellets + 20% singkil leaf flour). It can therefore be concluded that singkil leaf flour alone cannot serve as an alternative single feed for catfish; however, it can be effectively used as a supplementary ingredient at a maximum proportion of 20% in combination with pellets.

Abstract

Produksi minyak atsiri nasional hingga saat ini masih bergantung pada jenis komersial. Ketergantungan pada komuditas tersebut menyebabkan kurangnya eksplorasi serta pemanfaatan tanaman lokal penghasil minyak atsiri lainnya secara optimal. Karenanya diperlukan upaya eksplorasi terhadap tanaman lokal aromatik potensial yang belum banyak diteliti salah satu contohnya adalah Singkil (Premna corymbosa). Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui rendemen minyak atsiri yang dihasilkan tanaman Singkil (Premna corymbosa),serta menilai mutu organoleptiknya. Penelitian ini dilakukan dengan metode distilasi uap. Adapun teknik uji organoleptik menggunakan metode uji hedonik yang melibatkan 30 panelis. Penelitian ini menunjukkan hasil rendemen minyak atsiri sebesar 0,5 mL dari 1.3 kg (0,038% v/b). Hasil uji organoleptik menunjukkan minyak atsiri singkil memiliki warna jernih, aroma tajam dan khas serta kekentalan yang rendah “cair” dengan tingkat daya terima panelis “puas”. Minyak atsiri yang diperoleh dari daun singkil tua memiliki potensi sebagai bahan utama dalam pengembangan produk berbasis minyak atsiri. Meski demikian, agar kualitas dan kuantitas minyak yang dihasilkan lebih maksimal, diperlukan studi lanjutan yang meneliti pengaruh faktor-faktor seperti usia daun, teknik pengeringan, serta variasi suhu dan durasi proses distilasi terhadap rendemen dan mutu minyak.
