Abstract

Schools have their own strategies as a center for implementing strategic management to compete. It has become a demand that must be carried out to improve and increase the quality of education. This research aims to explore how schools can improve the quality of education through effective management strategies. The method used is descriptive research with a qualitative approach, where data is collected through observation, interviews, and documentation to get a comprehensive picture of the strategies implemented by the school. The research results show that the quality of education is not only determined by schools as educational resource teaching institutions but is also adjusted to the expectations and views of society, which continue to develop. Quality is an important part of institutional strategy and must be approached systematically using a strategic planning process to defend schools from increasingly fierce competition. In conclusion, school quality in education must meet the needs, hopes, and desires of all stakeholders, with the main focus on students through the leadership of the school principal, the quality of the school itself, learning programs, teaching staff, and students. The target of the principal in the current era as a learning leader is to create school policies that are more focused on student-centered learning services.

Abstract

The current moral decline of students is very worrying, even though the essence of education is to increase moral values. The government has implemented several policies to address this issue. However, the visible changes have not yet materialized, underscoring the critical role of Islamic education in shaping character education for the Indonesian nation. This study aims to learn about Islamic education from the perspective of character education for the Indonesian people. The research method used is literature research, which involves searching for and viewing data related to themes, types, and research approaches. The researchers divide the qualitatively descriptive data into primary and secondary categories for subsequent analysis from the correct perspective. The results of this study indicate that Islamic education has several concepts for shaping the character of Indonesian students in accordance with the long-term plans of the Indonesian nation. Furthermore, Islamic education exemplifies character education by drawing on the example of the Prophet Muhammad PBUH. This article concludes that Islamic education in shaping students' character is following the objectives of character education in Indonesia as stated in the 2005–2025 National Long-term Development Plan.

Abstract

The rapid adoption of smart city initiatives in Indonesia reflects a national ambition to modernize urban governance through digital innovation. However, despite increasing investments in smart infrastructure, significant disparities in socio-economic outcomes remain prevalent. This paradox raises a critical question: Do smart cities in Indonesia truly enhance inclusivity, or do they reinforce existing inequalities? This study aims to critically examine the relationship between smart city implementation and social inequality in five major Indonesian cities: Jakarta, Bandung, Surabaya, Makassar, and Semarang. Using a convergent mixed-methods approach, the research integrates quantitative data analysis—including Smart City Index scores, Gini coefficients, and internet access rates—with qualitative critical discourse analysis (CDA) of policy documents and urban governance narratives. The findings reveal a consistent mismatch between technological advancement and social equity. Cities with high smart city performance often report elevated levels of income inequality, and digital infrastructure remains disproportionately concentrated in urban centers, excluding marginalized communities. Furthermore, policy discourses prioritize efficiency and modernization, while overlooking equity, participation, and redistribution. This study concludes that smart city strategies in Indonesia, as currently designed, risk deepening the digital and social divide. It calls for a redefinition of smart urbanism—one grounded in social justice, participatory governance, and inclusive policy design. Such a shift is essential to ensure that smart technologies genuinely serve all urban residents, not just the digitally privileged.

Abstract

Cryptocurrency has grown rapidly in Indonesia and attracted the attention of various parties, both from economic and legal aspects. However, cryptocurrency regulation in Indonesia is still in its early stages with dual regulations between Bank Indonesia which prohibits its use as a means of payment, and Bappebti which recognizes cryptocurrency as a tradable commodity. This background creates legal uncertainty and cyber risks that need to be addressed seriously. This study aims to analyze the legal framework governing cryptocurrency in Indonesia, as well as identify potential risks arising from a cyber law perspective. This study uses a juridical-normative approach with a descriptive-analytical method, focusing on literature studies related to cryptocurrency regulations, laws and regulations, and industry reports. The results of the study show that cryptocurrency regulations in Indonesia are still limited to aspects of commodity trading without fully considering the threatening cyber risks, such as fraud and money laundering. In addition, comparisons with countries such as Japan and Singapore show that Indonesia needs to strengthen the existing legal framework to reduce the risk of cybercrime. More comprehensive regulatory reforms are needed to address existing legal loopholes, protect consumers, and create a safe cryptocurrency ecosystem.

Abstract

The development of digital technology has encouraged the emergence of digital activism as a new means for citizens to voice opinions and fight for socio-political rights. However, in Indonesia, this space for digital expression is often faced with repressive regulations, particularly through the use of rubber articles in the Electronic Information and Transaction Law (ITE Law). This research aims to critically analyze the legal boundary between freedom of expression and hate speech in the context of digital activism, identify potential abuses of digital law against activists and citizens, and offer a just and democratic juridical framework. Using a descriptive qualitative approach with a case study method, data was collected through documentation of legal regulations, interviews with key figures, and netnographic observations on social media. The results show that ITE Law is often used as an instrument to silence political expression, with the trend of reporting against activists increasing in the last four years. The unclear definition of hate speech and the absence of explicit protection for political expression worsen the conditions for digital democracy. This research recommends digital regulatory reforms, including the establishment of an independent oversight body and affirmation of the legal boundary between criticism and hate speech, to guarantee civil rights in the cyber era.

Abstract

The dynamics of the development of Education in Indonesia has always been colored by various problems which until now continue to be homework together. The problem is related to the Education system, curriculum, quality of graduates, well-being and integrity of educators, infrastructure, costs, and accountability of Education institutions and managers. In addition to these problems, our education is also faced with the problem of the moral decadence of the younger generation. One of the causes of this problem is that educational institutions are still not optimal in carrying out their role. Educational institutions in Indonesia are judged to give a very large portion to the transmission of knowledge, but less or even forget the development of attitudes, values and behavior in learning. Similarly, in the evaluation process, the cognitive dimension becomes the main yardstick to determine the level of student performance. As a result, educational institutions are able to produce graduates who have extensive knowledge but care less about the social environment around them. Ironically, this educational practice also takes place in a madrasah, which is an Islamic educational institution. Madrasas should emulate the efforts made by pesantren in terms of instilling character, namely through habituation, discipline, learning process and integration in learning materials.
