Abstract

The market has a very important role in the economy. Islam recognizes the existence of market mechanisms if the market runs perfectly. The problem that often occurs is the distortion in the market that impedes the economy, so Islam considers the need for government intervention in price-fixing. This paper aims to find out the concept of Ibn Taimiyah's thoughts regarding the regulation of market prices in Islam. The method used is library research using descriptive analysis method. One of Thought Economy Ibn Taimiyah explained that the price was determined by the strength of demand and supply. If the price increase is due to fraud and the inequality of the market mechanism, the government must implement a policy in determining prices. If there is a natural price increase, the government does not have the authority to set prices. Therefore, the thought of Ibn Taimiyah provides an understanding of what happened in the past but can be expected for the present state of life of the people.

Abstract

IntroductionThe Cash Waqf Linked Sukuk (CWLS) represents an innovative instrument that combines Islamic philanthropy and investment principles to support social development. Despite its potential, Generation Z's participation in CWLS remains limited, presenting a challenge for its broader adoption.ObjectivesThis study examines the influence of financial literacy and financial capability on Generation Z's interest in CWLS investments. It seeks to identify the key barriers and enablers shaping investment behavior in the context of Islamic social finance.MethodUsing a quantitative approach, data were collected from 100 Generation Z respondents in Yogyakarta through structured questionnaires. Multiple regression analysis was employed to assess the relationship between financial literacy, financial capability, and investment interest in CWLS.ResultsThe findings indicate that financial literacy and financial capability have significant positive effects on investment interest in CWLS. Respondents with higher financial literacy demonstrated greater awareness of CWLS benefits, while stronger financial capability enabled practical decision-making. However, issues of trust in waqf management and limited awareness of CWLS were identified as barriers to participation.ImplicationsThe results underscore the importance of targeted financial education, transparency in waqf management, and innovative outreach strategies to enhance CWLS adoption. These insights are critical for policymakers, educators, and financial institutions in promoting Islamic social finance.Originality/NoveltyThis study contributes to the growing body of knowledge on Islamic social finance by exploring the unique dynamics of Generation Z's engagement with CWLS. Abstract

This study explains the concept of tadlis (fraudulent misrepresentation) occurring in e-marketplaces, specifically among sellers of plain t-shirts. This is done to ensure that the public is not easily deceived by products sold in online markets. Fraud is more likely to occur in online markets compared to offline markets due to the absence of face-to-face transactions. The research method used in this study is a qualitative approach with a literature review, drawing on various references related to the issue. In addition, observations were made in the Shopee e-marketplace, particularly among plain t-shirt sellers. The author found that the materials sold did not match the descriptions, allowing sellers to sell products at prices below the average market rate. Based on the results of this study, when linked to the theory of market distortion (tadlis), it can be interpreted that distortions in the Shopee e-marketplace, especially in the sale of plain t-shirt products, still occur frequently. This not only harms buyers but also disadvantages other sellers who offer products at average prices and with clear quality. Therefore, as a buyer or consumer, it is important to understand the products being purchased and not be attracted to the low prices offered by sellers in e-marketplaces. This study delivers an important message to increase consumer awareness and educate them about the potential for fraud in online trading, while also encouraging the importance of transparency and honesty in selling on e-marketplaces. Keywords: Market Distortion, e-marketplace, Tadlis, Islamic Economics.

Abstract

Sharia-compliant investments are gaining traction among younger generations, particularly in Indonesia, where Generation Z represents a significant demographic with growing interest in ethical financial products. This study aims to explore the factors influencing Behavioral Intention to invest in Sharia-compliant stocks by integrating Islamic economic knowledge and the Unified Theory of Acceptance and Use of Technology (UTAUT) constructs, including Performance Expectancy, Effort Expectancy, Social Influence, and Facilitating Conditions. A quantitative methodology was employed, utilizing a structured survey distributed to 100 respondents in Surakarta, Indonesia. Multiple linear regression analysis was conducted to assess the relationships between independent variables and Behavioral Intention. Supporting assumption tests, such as normality, multicollinearity, autocorrelation, and heteroskedasticity, confirmed the validity and reliability of the regression model. The results revealed that Performance Expectancy, Effort Expectancy, Social Influence, and Facilitating Conditions significantly and positively influence Behavioral Intention. However, Islamic economic knowledge did not exhibit a statistically significant effect, indicating that practical and social factors outweigh theoretical understanding in driving investment decisions. The model explained 49.3% of the variance in Behavioral Intention, highlighting the importance of usability, perceived benefits, and social dynamics in shaping Generation Z’s preferences. These findings underscore the need for targeted strategies that emphasize user-friendly platforms, ethical value alignment, and community-driven promotion to enhance participation in Sharia-compliant investments. By addressing these factors, financial institutions and policymakers can foster financial inclusivity and promote sustainable economic growth.

Abstract

This study investigates the implementation of Cash Waqf Linked Sukuk (CWLS) SW001 as a tool for integrating Islamic social finance with modern investment practices. CWLS SW001 represents a transformative approach to mobilizing waqf funds, addressing socio-economic challenges, and adhering to Maqashid Shariah principles. The primary objective of the research is to evaluate the sukuk’s operational framework, its alignment with Islamic ethical principles, and its socio-economic contributions, particularly in the healthcare sector. Using a qualitative descriptive methodology, this study examines secondary data, including official reports and academic literature, to assess CWLS SW001’s mechanisms and impacts. The analysis is structured around Maqashid Shariah, focusing on objectives such as protecting life (hifdz an-nafs) and wealth (hifdz al-mal). The findings reveal that CWLS SW001 effectively channels waqf funds into productive and socially impactful projects, such as constructing a retina center and free cataract surgeries for underprivileged individuals. The sukuk’s operational model ensures transparency, financial sustainability, and compliance with Islamic principles. Despite its success, challenges remain, including limited public awareness and regulatory barriers hindering broader adoption and scalability. This study contributes to the growing body of knowledge on Islamic finance by demonstrating the potential of CWLS to address contemporary socio-economic issues. It highlights the need for strategic interventions, including enhanced literacy campaigns and regulatory reforms, to optimize the instrument’s impact and expand its applications across diverse sectors. The research underscores CWLS’s role as a replicable model for innovative and ethical financial practices.

Abstract

This study examines the implementation of CWLS SW001, a cash waqf-linked sukuk instrument managed through private placement by the Indonesia Waqf Board (BWI). Acting as the sole wakif representative for individuals and institutions, funds collected via sukuk are allocated to productive projects, such as building the Retina and Glaucoma Center at RS Mata Achmad Wardi, Serang, Banten, and providing free healthcare services for 2,513 patients. The analysis reveals that CWLS SW001 aligns with the principles of Maqashid Syariah, addressing hajjiyat-level needs that enhance social welfare and economic inclusivity without compromising the five core objectives of Shariah: religion, life, intellect, lineage, and wealth. This platform not only integrates Islamic values with modern financial instruments but also demonstrates how waqf can serve as a sustainable funding source for public health infrastructure. Recommendations for stakeholders include increasing public awareness and adopting alternative issuance mechanisms to empower wakif in deciding the allocation of funds. This study highlights the potential of CWLS as a transformative tool for waqf management and invites further exploration into its regulatory and operational frameworks to maximize its societal benefits.
