Abstract

Early childhood independence is a vital aspect of character development and readiness to face life’s challenges. This study aims to examine the parenting practices of single fathers and their impact on fostering independence in early childhood using a descriptive-analytical literature review approach. The findings reveal that the democratic parenting style is the most effective in promoting independence, characterized by responsibility-sharing, freedom of expression, and open communication. This style supports children’s physical, emotional, social, and moral development. Despite facing challenges such as limited time, advanced age, and dual household roles, single fathers can still provide nurturing and supportive parenting. Contributing factors such as role modeling, emotional support, a conducive environment, and school collaboration further enhance the effectiveness of parenting. The study concludes that the success of fostering independence in single-father families is strongly influenced by the quality of parenting and synergy between family and social environments.

Abstract

This study explores the role of teachers in enhancing cognitive development in 5-6-year-old children at TK Cempaka, Ciamis, focusing on challenges, solutions, and supportive learning environments. Using a descriptive qualitative case study approach, data were collected through observation, interviews, and documentation from January to April 2025. Subjects included teachers, 6-year-old children, parents, and the principal. Findings highlight challenges such as limited training, indistinct cognitive delay symptoms, inadequate assessment tools, high workload, and social stigma. Proposed solutions include teacher training, simple screening tools, multidisciplinary collaboration, inclusive education systems, workload management, educational technology, and stigma reduction. Teachers can foster supportive environments through differentiated teaching, inclusive classroom culture, gamification, parent-specialist collaboration, positive behavior management, adaptive curricula, and continuous training. The study recommends these strategies to optimize cognitive development per Permendikbud No. 137 of 2014, enhancing inclusive early childhood education
