Abstract

The social-emotional development of early childhood is a crucial aspect that influences children’s ability to recognize and manage emotions, as well as to establish healthy social relationships. This study aims to analyze the influence of parental education level on the social-emotional development of children aged 4-5 years in Babakan Asih Subdistrict, Bojongloa Kaler District, Bandung City. The study employed a quantitative correlational approach using a survey method. The sample consisted of 50 parents with early-aged children, selected through purposive sampling. Data were collected using a questionnaire that had been tested for validity and reliability. Data analysis was conducted using Pearson correlation with the aid of statistical software. The findings indicate a positive and significant relationship between parental education level and children’s social-emotional development, with a correlation coefficient of 0.549 and a significance level of 0.000. These results suggest that the higher the parental education level, the better the social-emotional development of the child. The study recommends increasing parenting literacy among parents, both through formal and non-formal education, to support the holistic development of children. Support from early childhood education institutions and local government is also necessary to provide capacity-building programs for parents in developmentally appropriate parenting

Abstract

This study aims to determine the effect of animated film media on the listening skills of children aged 5-6 years. The study used an experimental method with a non-equivalent control group design involving 20 children from Pembina Kindergarten in Tasikmalaya City, divided into 10 children in the experimental group and 10 children in the control group. The experimental group was given treatment in the form of animated film presentations, while the control group used conventional learning media. Data were collected through observation sheets. The results showed a significant increase in the average score of the experimental group from 22.00 to 31.90. These findings indicate that animated film media can improve children's listening skills, because it combines visual and auditory stimuli that can facilitate understanding of information more effectively. The use of animated films also encourages children's active involvement in the learning process through clear narratives, characters close to their lives. This study recommends the use of animated film media as an alternative learning in early childhood education to develop children's listening skills optimally

Abstract

The emotional intelligence of early childhood educators is a key factor in creating a positive learning environment that supports early childhood development. This study aims to analyze the role of teachers’ emotional intelligence in fostering a safe, comfortable, and conducive learning atmosphere. The method used was a literature review examining various research findings related to the emotional intelligence of early childhood educators. The results of the review indicate that teachers’ emotional intelligence which encompasses self-awareness, self-regulation, motivation, empathy, and social skills plays a significant role in enhancing the quality of teacher-child interactions, classroom management, and children’s social-emotional development. Furthermore, teachers’ emotional intelligence is also linked to their psychological well-being and children’s learning motivation. The implementation of emotional intelligence in learning can be achieved through empathetic communication, the use of affective language, positive reinforcement, and collaborative play activities. However, there are several challenges, such as high emotional workload and limited teacher-to-student ratios. Therefore, support in the form of training, institutional policies, and the integration of social-emotional learning into the curriculum is needed. Thus, strengthening the emotional intelligence of early childhood educators is a strategic step in creating a learning environment that is not only academically effective but also supports children’s emotional and social development

Abstract

Pre-reading ability is one of the basic skills that need to be developed from an early age as a provision for children to enter the next level of education. Based on the results of initial observations at Permata Hati Aisyiyah Kindergarten, the pre-reading ability of children aged 5-6 years still needs to be improved, especially in recognizing symbols and sound letters, reading simple words, and connecting letters with their sounds. This study aims to improve the pre-reading ability of children aged 5-6 years through the use of Ropaba media (Letter Wheel and Reading Board). This study uses the Classroom Action Research (CAR) method of the Kemmis and McTaggart model which is carried out in two cycles, including the stages of planning, action implementation, observation, and reflection. The research subjects were 19 children in group B2. Data collection techniques were carried out through observation and documentation, while data analysis used quantitative and qualitative descriptive techniques. The results of the study showed that the use of Ropaba media can improve children's pre-reading ability. In Cycle I, the percentage of children's pre-reading ability reached 64.21% with a sufficient category, then increased to 88.95% in Cycle II with a very good category. These improvements demonstrate that Ropaba media can create a more engaging and enjoyable learning environment, enabling children to engage more actively in learning activities. Therefore, Ropaba media can be used as an alternative learning medium to improve pre-reading skills in early childhood
