Abstract

Teachers are the most important part in the world of education. These components are needed in the process of formal and non-formal education. The role of the teacher in improving the character of students must be optimized, especially in terms of the character of discipline, so that in the future it can make students able to complete their school assignments well. The purpose of this research is to describe the teacher's role in improving the disciplined character of students in the Darul Hikam Elementary School in Bandung. This research method uses a descriptive qualitative approach, the informants are taken through snowball sampling technique. The data collection uses observation, interviews and documentation techniques. Data analysis techniques researchers use data reduction, data presentation, drawing conclusions or verification. In this study it can be concluded that the role of teachers in SD Darul Hikam Bandung in improving the character of discipline, namely: Teachers as educators, teachers as initiators and teachers as correctors.

Abstract

The study of language refers to a discouse analysis. Discourse analysis perform an approach of an analysis connected to language pattern of a text used in the analysis, it require linguistic competence and deixis is one of them. According to Levinson (1983), deixis devided into person deixis, place deixis, time deixis, social deixis and discourse deixis. This research aims to find all types of deixis used and the effect produced by social deixis  in the conversation script of Pirates of The Caribbean: At World’s End between all the character in the movie. The research was done using descriptive qualitative method. The data were collected from downloading the script trough a website related to the production of Pirates Caribbean movie. Then the data were classified and elaborated using Levinson five types of deixis theory and relational-absolute social diectic information. The analysis finding presented in  presentage as follows; person deixis 78,7% (as total of 607 deixis), place deixis 6,09% (as total of 47 deixis), time deixis 4,15% (as total of 32 deixis), social deixis 3,76% (as total of 29 deixis), discourse deixis 7,26% (as total of 56 deixis). As the relational-absolute social diectic information, it was found that the usage of social deixis is able to show the character relationship and hierarchy presented in the movie.Kata Kunci: discourse analysis, deixis, social deictic information, relational-absolute

Abstract

This study focused on maintaining classroom interaction in teaching reading through an online classroom. Furthermore, this study is designed to investigate teachers ' experience of maintaining an interactive classroom interaction while teaching reading in an online classroom and also to find out the challenges the teachers encountered and solution to those challenges. The researcher employed a qualitative approach under a narrative inquiry to obtain the data and answer the research questions. The researcher used narrative data analysis that engages transcribing and coding stories. The researcher interpreted, coded, and summarized the gathered data from the semi-structural interview. The result showed that teachers maintained their interactive classroom interactions by adjusting lesson plans and implementing synchronous and asynchronous interactions. Most teachers utilize Google Meet, Zoom, Google Classroom, WhatsApp, and Google Forms as medias for teacher-student interaction during learning sessions. Almost all teacher encounter various challenges when it deals with teaching reading to students online. The major challenge that teachers have during teaching reading online is technical problem and students' attention spans. The strategy to overcome challenges in maintaining classroom interaction is to give more focus on and to communicate effectively with students' parents and the homeroom teacher. The researcher also suggests further researchers investigate teachers’ teaching methodology in online teaching reading.

Abstract

This study successfully synthesized nitrogen-doped carbon quantum dots (N-CQDs) from banana peel waste via a hydrothermal method using urea as the nitrogen source. FTIR and optical characterization confirmed the presence of hydroxyl, carbonyl, and amine functional groups, along with distinct photophysical features, including an absorption peak at 304 nm, excitation at 392 nm, and blue fluorescence emission at 465 nm. Upon Fe(III) exposure, the N-CQDs exhibited selective fluorescence quenching and a measurable hue (H) value shift. A linear relationship was observed between hue and Fe(III) concentration in the 1-5 mM range (R2 = 0.9822). The limit of detection (LOD) and limit of quantification (LOQ) were estimated at 0.948 mM and 2.875 mM, respectively. These findings demonstrate the potential of banana peel-derived N-CQDs as a low-cost, environmentally friendly, and smartphone-compatible fluorescence probe for Fe(III) detection in aqueous environments
