Abstract

Synthesis of gold nanoparticles (AuNPs) by reduction of HAuCl4 with p-aminobenzoic acid and p-aminosalicylic acid as a reducing agent was investigated. This work was conducted in order to determine the optimum condition of AuNPs synthesis and examine the effect of the hydroxyl group in p-aminosalicylic acid towards the size, shape, and stability of the synthesized gold nanoparticles (AuNPs). The optimum condition of the gold nanoparticles synthesis was determined by UV/Vis spectrophotometer, the shape and size of gold nanoparticles were measured by Transmission Electron Microscope (TEM). The synthesis process was started by reacting HAuCl4 and the reducing agents in an aqueous solution at 86 ºC. The initial gold concentration, reducing agents concentration and pH were varied in order to obtain the optimum condition. In the optimum condition, the results showed that p-aminosalicylic acid containing both hydroxyl and amino groups performed higher reduction ability compared to p-aminobenzoic acid that only containing an amino group. Reducing agents which have a hydroxyl group (p-aminosalicylic acid) could produce AuNPs with a smaller concentration of HAuCl4 than p-aminobenzoic acid. Gold nanoparticles that were synthesized with p-aminosalicylic acid were more stable and had a smaller particle size compared to its counterpart that is synthesized with p-aminobenzoic acid.

Abstract

In this work, we determined the influenced of the reaction time at the synthesis of gold nanoparticles (AuNPs) by p-aminosalicylic acid and p-aminobenzoic acid as reducing agent. Besides working as a reducing agent, the p-aminobenzoic acid and p-aminosalicylic acid also simultaneously played a role as a capping agent/stabilizing agent. Gold ion was first mixed with the pH adjusted p-aminobenzoic acid and p-aminosalicylic acid. The mixture then heated in boiling water at 86 °C. The formation of AuNPs was indicated by the appearance of red color and analyzed with UV/Vis spectrophotometry to evaluate their surface plasmon resonance (SPR) absorption in the wavelength range 400–800 nm. The reducing ability of the reducing agents was affected by its structure. Gold nanoparticles that were synthesized with p-aminosalicylic acid were more stable, faster and had a smaller size than its counterpart that is synthesized with p-aminobenzoic acid. The stability test over a periods 5 months showed that AuNPs were relatively stable.

Abstract

A rapid and selective colorimetric detection of Ni2+ was developed using silver nanoparticles (AgNPs) with β-cyclodextrin (β-CDs) as reducing and stabilizing agents. Characterization was assessed by spectrophotometer UV-vis, Fourier transform infra-red (FTIR), transmission electron microscopy (TEM), and particle size analyzer (PSA). The AgNPs-β-CDs were relatively stable after being stored for 5 months. The addition of Ni2+ to the AgNPs-β-CDs shifted the surface plasmon resonance (SPR) band at 409 nm. Synthesized AgNPs-β-CDs had a spherical shape and an average size of 25.07 ± 0.66 nm (analyzed by TEM) and 33.63 ± 0.25 nm, as confirmed by PSA. AgNPs-β-CDs as colorimetric sensors for Ni2+ ions had a good linear calibration curve at 409 nm with the R2 value of 0.9993. The limit of detection (LoD) was found to be 33.30 ppb, while the limit of quantification (LoQ) was 111.0 ppb. This sensor had been applied to a seawater sample from Ancol Beach, North Jakarta, Indonesia and it exhibited good precision and accuracy. In this work, β-CDs-synthesized AgNPs were able to detect Ni2+ ions and were beneficial as an alternative method for Ni2+ screening in environmental samples.

Abstract

SMA IMBOS adalah Pondok Pesantren Modern yang menerapkan konsep boarding school. Analisis minat dan bakat siswa merupakan salah satu dukungan dalam perwujutan visi SMA IMBOS yang hadir untuk mempersiapkan generasi islam melalui kurikulum terpadu, yaitu perpaduan kurikulum Merdeka dan kurikulum khas IMBOS dengan tujuan melahirkan generasi "Cendikiawan Qur'ani" dengan karakter akademik, tahfizh, dan tarbiyah islam. Proses pengaplikasian perpaduan kurikulum Merdeka dan kurikulum islami di SMA IMBOS membutuhkan suatu pendekatan dalam menganalisis minat dan bakat siswa, pendekatan yang sesuai dengan kebutuhan tersebut adalah metode RIASEC. Metode RIASEC memetakan minat dan bakat siswa kedalam 6 kelompok yaitu R (Realistic), I (Investigative), A (Artistic), S (Social), E (Enterprising), dan C (Conventional). Hasil analisis RIASEC pada siswa kelas X SMA IMBOS memperlihatkan sebanyak 26% siswa dengan karakter Social, 21% siswa berkarakter Realistic, 19% berkarakter Investigatif, 12% siswa berkarakter Enterprising, 8% siswa berkarakter Artistic dan 14% siswa berkarakter Conventional. Kesesuain analisis RIASEC dengan karakter minat profesi siswa mencapai 95,24% dan tingkat kepuasan siswa sebesar 100%. Keberlanjutan kegiatan PkM ini adalah mengadaptasi sistem RIASEC digital terpadu agar dapat dilaksanakan secara berkala untuk seluruh siswa SMA IMBOS.

Abstract

Obesity has become increasingly prevalent worldwide each year. Several studies have proven that herbs are effective in preventing obesity. The research delved into the active compounds of Boesenbergia pandurata to reveal their mechanisms of action by utilizing bioinformatics approaches. The research methods included active compounds selection, QSAR analysis, networking analysis, molecular docking, and ADME prediction. The QSAR analysis predicted that the active compounds were correlated with some theoretical activities with more than 0.5 probability, namely vasoprotective, anti-hypercholesterolemic, anti-inflammatory, free radical scavenging, and as a lipid metabolism regulator and TNF expression inhibitor. Furthermore, the results of the networking analysis showed that five compounds (pinocembrin, cardamonin, flavokawain B, flavokawain C, and tectochrysin) had direct interactions with RPS6KB1. Pinocembrin exhibited the highest binding affinityof -7.26 kcal/mol, although not as strong as that of the control ligand (FS9). The ADME prediction indicated that the five compounds were non-toxic and had excellent absorption. It can be concluded that the active compounds of B. pandurata have the ability to improve metabolic syndrome, especially obesity, in silico through several mechanisms, such as suppression of pro-inflammatory cytokine, regulation of lipid metabolism, and those associated with antioxidants.

Abstract

Pupuk organik dari kotoran kambing dapat diolah menjadi pupuk organik dengan penambahan Effective Microorganisms 4 (EM4) dan gula merah yang dapat meningkatkan kesuburan tanah dan mengurangi pencemaran lingkungan. Desa Sindang Anom, merupakan salah satu desa yang terletak di Kecamatan Sekampung Udik, Kabupaten Lampung Timur, Provinsi Lampung. Sebagian besar masyarakat memiliki mata pencaharian sebagai peternak dan petani. Kambing merupakan salah satu mayoritas hewan yang diternak oleh peternak di Desa Sindang Anom. Limbah kotoran kambing yang dihasilkan belum dapat diolah masyarakat Desa Sindang Anom. Kegiatan sosialisasi dan pelatihan pembuatan pupuk organik di Desa Sindang Anom, Lampung Timur, bertujuan meningkatkan pengetahuan peternak dalam mengolah limbah kotoran kambing menjadi pupuk organik yang bermanfaat. Penyampaian sosialisasi dan praktik kerja bersama dengan kelompok ternak terbukti efektif dalam meningkatkan wawasan dan pengetahuan kelompok ternak, yang terlihat dari peningkatan hasil pre-test dan post-test sebesar 52%.

Abstract

Desa Padang Rejo merupakan salah satu pekon yang terletak di kecamatan Pagelaran Kabupaten Pringsewu. Sebagian besar masyarakat desa berpropesi sebagai petani dan pekerja kebun. Salah satu hasil perkebunan desa Padang Rejo adalah ketela pohon atau singkong, singkong umumnya dijual langsung dengan harga murah oleh masyarakat atau diolah menjadi Tape untuk meningkatkan nilai jualnya. Kendala umum yang dialami oleh masyarakat dalam mengolah singkong menjadi tape adalah produk tape yang dihasilkan mudah basi/rusak, sehingga tim PkM Prodi Kimia menyelenggarakan penyuluhan pembuatan tape menggunakan metode fermentasi terpadu untuk memberikan alternatif solusi permasalahan tersebut. Hasil tape yang dibuat dengan mengguankan metode Fermentasi terpadu dapat meningkatkan masa simpan dari tape hingga 7 hari tanpa menyebabkan kerusakan dan perubahan rasa pada tape. Tape yang dihasilkan dari metode ini memiliki rasa yang manis dan tekstur yang lembut serta aroma khas tape. Sebesar 93% warga merasa bahwa kegiatan sosialisasi dan praktek yang dilaksanakan memiliki manfaat dalam meningkatkan pengetahuan dan juga meningkatkan kualitas pembuatan dari tape. Kegiatan PkM ini diharapkan dapat menjadi sarana edukasi masyarakat dalam menerapkan teknologi fermentasi yang dapat menghasilkan produk tape singkong yang tahan lama dan berkualitas baik.

Abstract

Panti Asuhan Darul Amanah menghadapi tantangan dalam memenuhi kebutuhan harian dan pendidikan anak-anak asuh akibat keterbatasan ekonomi. Untuk membantu meringankan kendala tersebut, tim dosen Program Studi Kimia ITERA melaksanakan pelatihan pembuatan sabun cair sebagai bentuk pengabdian kepada masyarakat dan penguatan kewirausahaan. Kegiatan dilaksanakan pada 15 Maret 2025 dan melibatkan 27 peserta, terdiri dari 8 pengurus panti dan 19 anak-anak asuh berusia 7–17 tahun. Pelatihan terbagi dalam dua sesi, yaitu teori tentang kewirausahaan dan proses produksi sabun cair, serta praktik langsung pembuatan produk. Hasil evaluasi menunjukkan peningkatan pemahaman peserta yang signifikan serta antusiasme tinggi selama kegiatan. Produk sabun cair yang dihasilkan memiliki kualitas baik, layak pakai, dan bernilai jual. Berdasarkan kuisioner, tingkat kepuasan peserta sangat tinggi, yaitu 81,48% merasa sangat puas dan 18,52% merasa puas. Kegiatan ini membuka peluang usaha mikro dengan modal kecil yang dapat dijalankan secara mandiri oleh pihak panti dan anak-anak asuh. Disarankan agar pengembangan produk berlanjut pada aspek pelabelan, branding, dan pemasaran digital untuk meningkatkan nilai jual dan daya saing di pasar lokal.

Abstract

The increasing demand for clean water sources aligns with the continuous growth of the human population and environmental challenges. Water is a fundamental necessity for sustaining life, and its quality must be maintained to ensure safe utilization. However, contamination by heavy metals significantly degrades water quality, rendering it unsuitable for human consumption and daily use. Among various detection methods, silver nanoparticles (AgNPs) have emerged as promising nanomaterials for identifying the presence of heavy metal ions in water sources, including mercury (II) ions (Hg²⁺). The detection mechanism is based on colorimetric changes that can be further analyzed using UV-visible spectrophotometry. In this study, silver nanoparticles were successfully synthesized via a green synthesis approach using Moringa oleifera leaf extract as a bioreducing agent. The optimal synthesis conditions were established at a precursor concentration of 2.5 mM, a reaction temperature of 50°C, and a synthesis duration of 90 minutes. The resulting AgNPs exhibited an average particle size of 103.8 nm and demonstrated stability for up to three days. Furthermore, the synthesized AgNPs showed high sensitivity in detecting mercury (II) ions at concentrations as low as 20 ppm, highlighting their potential application in water quality monitoring and environmental remediation.
