Abstract

Abstract:This research analyzed characters in the movie Alice Through The Looking Glass by using Vladimir Propp?s theory especially in seven spheres of action and thirty-one narrative functions. To conduct this research, the researcher used descriptive method. To analyze the data, the researcher classified the characters into seven spheres of action and classified the sequence into thirty-one narrative functions. The results of this research showed that there were six spheres of action that the researcher found there were villain, donor, helper, princess, dispatcher, and hero and seventeen narrative functions which appeared in the movie Alice Through The Looking Glass which were absentation, mediation, interdiction, beginning counteraction, departure, violation, reconnaissance, provision of magical agent, guidance, unrecognized arrival, transfiguration, villainy, victory, punishment liquidation of lack, return, and wedding.

Abstract

Berpikir kritis merupakan keterampilan penting bagi siswa dalam kehidupan akademik maupun sehari-hari. Hasil wawancara dengan kepala sekolah SMPN 229 Jakarta menunjukkan bahwa rapor sekolah belum mencapai hasil yang maksimal terutama dalam kualitas pembelajaran dan keterampilan berpikir kritis siswa. Oleh karena itu, program pengabdian kepada masyarakat berupa pelatihan pengembangan bahan ajar yang memfasilitasi berpikir kritis dilaksanakan. Pelatihan ini bertujuan untuk meningkatkan pengetahuan dan keterampilan profesional guru dalam mengembangkan bahan ajar yang mendorong kemampuan berpikir kritis siswa. Kegiatan pengabdian kepada masyarakat ini dilaksanakan dengan menggunakan beberapa metode yaitu pemaparan, presentasi, diskusi dan simulasi yang melibatkan 30 guru SMPN 229 Jakarta dari berbagai mata pelajaran. Program dilaksanakan dalam enam sesi dari Juni hingga Agustus 2024. Hasil menunjukkan dampak positif terhadap pengembangan pengetahuan dan keterampilan guru dalam membuat bahan ajar yang memuat aktivitas dan pertanyaan berpikir kritis. Seluruh guru peserta melaporkan peningkatan pemahaman tentang pengajaran berpikir kritis, dengan 73,3% menyatakan akan menerapkan bahan ajar yang dikembangkan di kelas mereka. Pelatihan ini berhasil membantu guru membuat bahan ajar sesuai mata pelajaran yang mengintegrasikan kerangka berpikir kritis, berkontribusi pada pengembangan profesional mereka dan berpotensi meningkatkan kemampuan berpikir kritis siswa.

Abstract

The integration of artificial intelligence (AI) in English for Nursing instruction has become increasingly important as healthcare becomes more technologically driven and globally connected. This systematic review analyzes 28 studies published between 2022-2024 to examine the current state of AI implementation in nursing ESP education. The findings reveal three distinct categories of technological integration: basic digital tools (54%), intermediate AI integration (32%), and advanced AI applications (14%). While the analysis shows promising benefits in personalized learning and authentic communication practice, significant challenges persist in infrastructure, teacher expertise, and resource allocation. The review identifies a notable gap between available AI technologies and their practical classroom implementation, with 82% of studies reporting infrastructure limitations. These findings suggest that while AI integration shows great potential for transforming nursing ESP education, substantial work remains to bridge the gap between technological capabilities and practical implementation.

Abstract

Tujuan dari pelatihanl ini adalah untuk mengenalkan serta meningkatkan kemampuan siswa Sekolah Dasar dalam menggunakan Bahasa Palembang sebagai bagian dari pelestarian budaya lokal. Kegiatan ini dilaksanakan melalui pendekatan drama interaktif yang melibatkan siswa secara langsung dalam praktik berbahasa melalui dialog dan pementasan sederhana. Metode pelaksanaan mencakup penjelasan materi kebahasaan, latihan dialog, penampilan peran, serta sesi refleksi. Kegiatan ini dilaksanakan di SD Negeri 8 dan SD Negeri 16 Tanjung Lago, Desa Sumber Mekar Mukti, dan melibatkan siswa kelas IV dan V. Hasil kegiatan menunjukkan adanya peningkatan antusiasme siswa dalam mempelajari kosakata dan ungkapan khas Bahasa Palembang, meningkatnya keberanian siswa berbicara di depan kelas, serta tumbuhnya sikap positif terhadap budaya lokal. Dengan demikian, drama interaktif terbukti menjadi metode yang efektif, edukatif, dan menyenangkan dalam pembelajaran bahasa daerah, sekaligus menjawab tantangan pelestarian budaya lokal di kalangan generasi muda.

Abstract

This research is motivated by the popularity of the Twilight (2008) film, which not only became a global popular culture phenomenon but also demonstrates the revival of key elements of the Gothic literary tradition in a modern form. As an adaptation that combines teenage romance with an atmosphere of darkness and mystery, the film is significant to study within the framework of Gothic literature because it illustrates how classical traditions are transformed in contemporary media. This research aims to (1) identify and analyze the Gothic elements contained in the Twilight film as well as its adaptation of the classical Gothic literary tradition, and (2) explore how the film represents the main Gothic themes of forbidden love, death, and identity in a modern context. This study employs a descriptive qualitative method with content analysis, utilizing the theoretical framework of classical and modern Gothic literature as described by Wolfreys, Robbins, and Womack (2013), Spooner (2006), as well as previous related studies. The research data were obtained from dialogue excerpts, narratives, and visual elements in the Twilight film that contain Gothic elements. The analysis shows that Twilight adapts the core elements of classical Gothic literature namely forbidden love, death, and identity into a modern narrative context. These themes are represented through Bella and Edward’s cross-world romance, the reinterpretation of death as sacrifice, and the characters’ identity crises, all framed in the emotional language of contemporary youth. Supported by visual aesthetics such as dim lighting, fog, and isolated forest landscapes, the film bridges the classical Gothic tradition with 21st-century sensibilities.
