Abstract

This research aims to evaluate the impact of using Instagram on the religious behavior of students at the State Islamic University of North Sumatra. This study focuses on the extent to which Instagram use influences students' religious behavior. This research uses a quantitative approach by collecting data through a questionnaire instrument. The data analysis methods used are normality test, hypothesis test, simple linear regression coefficient test and determination test, then the data is processed using the SPSS 29 application. The results of the simple linear regression test show a significance value of 0.001 with a limit value of 0.05. Because 0.001 < 0.05, this indicates that the Instagram usage variable has a significant influence on religious behavior. And the results of the determination test show that there is a relationship between the use of Instagram social media and religious behavior, namely 0.295 or 29.5%. This means that variable (X) social media Instagram influences variable (Y) religious behavior by 29.5%. The remainder, namely 60.6%, comes from factors outside the research that are not included in this research model.

Abstract

Televisi memiliki kedudukan khusus yang dinilai paling berpengaruh terhadap opini publik, begitupun dengan dunia entertaint ataupun hiburan. Selain banyak mengedukasi penonton televisi juga sebagai media hiburan yang bisa mengisi waktu luang kita dengan keluarga. Begitupun dengan Stasiun TV Opera Medan yang tayag di TVRI. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui bagaimana proses produksi TV Opera Medan, dimulai dari pra produksi, produksi, dan pasca produksi. Penelitian ini menggunakan pendekatan deskriptif kualitatif dengan prosedur pengumpulan data berupa observasi lapangan, wawancara dan dokumentasi. Informan penelitian ini meliputi Produser Opera TV, Tim Kreatif Opera TV dan Pemain Opera TV. Hasil perolehan data dilakukan analisis berupa reduksi data, penyajian data dan penarikan kesimpulan. Hasil penelitian menjelaskan proses produksi yang dilakukan pada program TV Opera Medan telah sesuai dengan SOP (Sandar Operasional Prosedur) yang berlaku pada media televisi.

Abstract

Perkembangan Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengevaluasi efektivitas akun TikTok @Kompas.tv sebagai media berita dalam memenuhi kebutuhan informasi Generasi Z di UINSU. Metode yang digunakan adalah survei dengan pendekatan kuantitatif, di mana data dikumpulkan melalui kuesioner dan observasi. Sebanyak 100 responden yang dipilih menggunakan teknik purposive sampling menjadi sampel penelitian ini. Hasil analisis menunjukkan bahwa akun @Kompas.tv memperoleh skor rata-rata 3,11 pada tujuh indikator yang diukur, yaitu: Kredibilitas, Konteks, Konten, Kejelasan, Kontinuitas dan Konsistensi, Saluran, serta Kapabilitas Audiens. Skor rata-rata ini mengindikasikan bahwa akun TikTok @Kompas.tv berada dalam kategori "efektif" dalam memenuhi kebutuhan informasi Generasi Z di UINSU. Berdasarkan temuan ini, dapat disimpulkan bahwa akun @Kompas.tv berhasil memenuhi harapan Generasi Z dalam hal penyampaian informasi. Implikasinya adalah bahwa media berita dapat memanfaatkan platform TikTok sebagai sarana yang efektif untuk meningkatkan keterlibatan dan penyebaran informasi kepada Generasi Z secara lebih luas.

Abstract

Studying mahārah al-kalām, or Arabic speaking skills, is fundamental to the Arabic department curriculum. Effective instructional communication between teachers and lecturers is crucial for successful learning outcomes. This study utilizes a mixed-method approach combining quantitative and qualitative research methodologies to assess the effectiveness of instructional communication in mahārah al-kalām at Sultan Idris Education University, Malaysia. The findings reveal a high level of effectiveness in instructional communication, with an overall score of 90.36%. The primary factors influencing the effectiveness of instructional communication include the lecturer’s credibility, which encompasses expertise, trustworthiness, and attractiveness. This study contributes to the field of Arabic language education by emphasizing the importance of effective instructional communication in enhancing mahārah al-kalām learning outcomes. The results provide valuable insights for Arabic language educators, offering a basis for developing strategies to improve teacher-student interactions. For future research, exploring additional competencies, such as cultural and linguistic aspects, is recommended to achieve a more comprehensive understanding of mahārah al-kalām instruction. By addressing these areas, educators can foster a richer and more effective learning environment, contributing to the overall quality of Arabic language education.

Abstract

The effectiveness of Instagram accounts and the information conveyed to the internet community have a close relationship. Effectiveness is the expected impact, and then it can be assessed from the results of success or achievement of previously planned goals. The @cerita_asahan Instagram account acts as a news aggregator because it collects news from primary sources and delivers important information to the internet community quickly so that its effectiveness can be measured in terms of meeting the information needs of their followers. So the purpose of this study is to measure the effectiveness of the @cerita_asahan account in meeting the information needs of its followers. The study population was the followers of the account, with 100 people sampled. Using quantitative methods, the results showed the effectiveness of the @cerita_asahan account as a news aggregator in fulfilling followers' information needs with a simple linear regression coefficient and partial t-test, which resulted in a partial correlation of 0.846, in accordance with the high category according to Cohen's d interpretation criteria. The t-count value of 11.475 is greater than the t-table of 1.987, indicating that the null hypothesis is rejected and the alternative hypothesis is accepted, which means that there is a significant and positive effectiveness between the @cerita_asahan account and the fulfillment of the information needs of its followers. Therefore, it is concluded that the @cerita_asahan Instagram account is very effective in meeting the information needs of its followers, so this research is expected to be a good suggestion for the development of the @cerita_asahan Instagram account.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the meaning of signs in the film "Tuhan Izinkan Aku Berdosa" using Roland Barthes' semiotic approach, which includes denotation, connotation, and myth. The film was chosen because it explores themes of sin, forgiveness, and the search for identity, closely linked to social and religious values in Indonesian society. A qualitative descriptive method was used, with data collected through in-depth observation of visual elements, dialogues, and symbols within the film. The analysis results reveal that the film not only portrays individual inner conflicts when facing social and religious norms but also deconstructs social constructions of morality through rich visual symbolization. At the denotative level, the film depicts the protagonist’s journey in confronting moral dilemmas. At the connotative level, the use of colors, expressions, and settings deepens the emotional nuance of the story. Meanwhile, at the myth level, the film represents ideological struggles between religious values and individual freedom. This research concludes that "Tuhan Izinkan Aku Berdosa" serves notmerely as entertainment but also as a medium of social critique, encouraging audiencesreflect deeply on the meanings of sin, forgiveness, and personal freedom within the context of society.

Abstract

The rapid expansion of digital media and social networking platforms has substantially transformed the ways students’ access, consume, and disseminate news, while simultaneously increasing their vulnerability to misinformation and disinformation. This condition underscores the urgency of strengthening news literacy as an essential cognitive and social competence for fostering critical awareness and responsible digital citizenship. This study aims to evaluate the effectiveness of a news literacy workshop in strengthening senior high school students’ perceptions and critical awareness in Indonesia. The study employed a quasi-experimental design using a pre-test and post-test approach involving 91 senior high school students who participated in news literacy workshops conducted at four schools in North Sumatra Province. Data were collected using a news literacy perception questionnaire encompassing conceptual understanding, information verification skills, awareness of media bias, and ethical attitudes toward media use. Data analysis was conducted using descriptive statistics and the nonparametric Wilcoxon Signed Rank Test, complemented by effect size calculations to assess the magnitude of the intervention’s impact. The results indicate a statistically significant increase in students’ mean news literacy perception scores following the workshop, with significance values of p 0.05 and effect sizes ranging from large to very large. The most substantial improvements were observed in indicators related to understanding news structure and news values, recognizing media bias, and applying practical digital information verification skills, including the use of fact-checking tools and reverse image search techniques. Although the normalized gain (N-Gain) was categorized as low, this finding is understandable given the limited duration of the intervention and the complex nature of news literacy, which requires sustained and continuous learning processes. Overall, the findings confirm that news literacy workshops are effective as an initial strategy for strengthening high school students’ critical awareness and news literacy perceptions and have important implications for the development of integrated and sustainable news literacy programs within formal education in Indonesia.
