Abstract

The mushroom in the Acehnese language is called the bowl/addy straw mushroom (Volvariella volvaceae) including the most well known fungi among several species of mushrooms cultivated in Indonesia. The purpose of this research is to study the effect of the thickness of the casing and the composition of the media on the yield of mushroom (Volvariella volvaceae) using a Factorial Randomized Design with three replications. The first factor is the composition of the media and the second factor is the thickness of the casing. Data analysis was done by using SAS V9.12 software and advanced test with Duncan test at 5% level. This experiment showed that there is a significant effect on the interaction between the treatment of the media composition and the thickness treatment of the casing (K1C1 and K0C1) on the head body weight per harvest period, and there is no interaction with other variables. While the composition of the media singularly significant effect on the length of the fruit body and the number of fruit body in the treatment of the composition of oil palm empty bunches + lime + bran + cornflour (K1). In other variables, although statistically not yet showing the difference, but on average it appears that the medium of oil palm empty bunches + lime + bran + cornflour (K1) has the frequency of harvest, fruit body diameter, fruit body length and total body weight and fruit weight is higher than the treatment others. While the average appearance of mushroom pin head of the highest value is in treatment (K0). Average treatment without casing (C0) in addition to affect the body length of the fruit (fruting body) also gives the highest value on the appearance of pin head (going to fruit body), harvest frequency, body diameter. While the appearance of the pin head, the number of fruit body and body weight of mushroom fruit perang has the highest value on the 5 cm thickness casing treatment (C1)

Abstract

Hypertension in pregnancy is the fourth largest cause of maternal mortality in Indonesia. One classification of hypertension in pregnancy is preeclampsia. Thrombocytopenia is the most important sign indicating the severity of preeclampsia. 50% of preeclampsia cases are associated with thrombocytopenia. The aim of study is to analyze the Platelet Index in preeclaampsia dan severe preeclampsia. This research used cross sectional and collecting platelet index data from medical records of patients with preeclampsia and severe preeclampsia, in RSUD Dr. Aloe Saboe Gorontalo, January 2020 - December 2023. The sample is 30 medical records of pregnant women who were diagnosed preeclampsia and severe preeclampsia. Used simple random sampling technique. The statistical analysis used Independent T test. Results: The average platelet level in pregnant women with preeclampsia is 252.6, and severe preeclampsia is 191.467. P value = 0.012 (<0.05) this shows that there is a difference in the average of the preeclampsia and severe preeclampsia groups. Conclusion: The platelet index in the preeclampsia group was greater than in the severe preeclampsia group

Abstract

Abstract

Background: Hypertension during pregnancy remains one of the leading causes of maternal morbidity and mortality worldwide, particularly in low- and middle-income countries. This condition increases the risk of complications such as preeclampsia, preterm birth, and placental abruption. As pharmacological treatments may pose risks to both the mother and fetus, non-pharmacological interventions have gained interest as safer complementary approaches to managing hypertension in pregnancy. Objectives: The purpose of this study was to evaluate and compare the effectiveness of foot massage therapy and warm water foot soaks in reducing blood pressure among pregnant women diagnosed with hypertension. Methods: A quasi-experimental study with a non-equivalent control group design was conducted involving 72 pregnant women with hypertension. Participants were selected through purposive sampling and divided into two groups: one group (n=36) received foot massage therapy, while the other group (n=36) underwent warm water foot soaks. Both interventions were administered over a specific period, and blood pressure was measured before and after each session. The Wilcoxon Signed Ranks test was used to assess within-group changes, while the Mann–Whitney U test evaluated differences between the groups. Results: The results demonstrated a statistically significant reduction in both systolic (p = 0.00) and diastolic (p = 0.02) blood pressure in the foot massage group. Conversely, the warm water foot soak group did not show significant changes in systolic (p = 0.021) or diastolic (p = 0.026) pressure. Comparative analysis revealed that foot massage therapy was significantly more effective than warm water foot soaks in lowering blood pressure. Conclusions: Foot massage therapy is a more effective non-pharmacological intervention than warm water foot soaks for reducing blood pressure in hypertensive pregnant women. It offers a simple, safe, and cost-effective complementary strategy that can be integrated into prenatal care practices to improve maternal health outcomes.
