Abstract

This activity aimed to enhance the economic value of oyster mushroom commodities through the optimization of an educational cafe and the development of creative mushroom-based products at CV Caca Jamur, Pancur Batu District, Deli Serdang Regency. The main challenges faced by the partner included limited product innovation, conventional marketing practices, and the underutilization of the educational café as a medium for education, branding, and market expansion. The program was implemented using a participatory and collaborative approach by actively involving the partner in all stages of the activities, including problem identification, training and mentoring on product diversification, optimization of the educational café, strengthening of branding and packaging, and digital marketing assistance. The results demonstrated an improvement in the partner’s knowledge and skills in managing mushroom-based enterprises, the creation of diversified value-added mushroom products, and increased attractiveness of the educational café as a learning and promotional platform. Furthermore, the program contributed to broader market reach and increased income potential for the partner enterprise. This activity is expected to serve as a sustainable empowerment model for horticultural-based MSMEs through the integration of education, product innovation, and creative economy development.

Abstract

The irrigated rice farming sector in Indonesia faces challenges of labour shortages and soaring production costs, which necessitate modernisation through mechanisation. However, the implementation of agricultural machinery and equipment is often hampered by low technological literacy and a lack of understanding of maintenance management at the farmer level. This community service activity aims to bridge the technical knowledge gap through outreach and education on strategies for the effective and efficient use of agricultural machinery. The method employed is a participatory approach involving lecturers as expert resource persons and students as field facilitators through four stages: problem identification, thematic education, field practice demonstrations, and evaluation. The results of the activity indicate that the transfer of knowledge regarding the three main pillars of mechanisation—appropriate effectiveness, operational efficiency, and maximisation of function—successfully shifted farmers’ mindset towards becoming professional technology managers. The application of appropriate operational patterns has been proven to reduce production costs by 25–30%.

Abstract

Sebagai salah satu perusahaan agroindustri terbesar di Indonesia bergerak dalam bidang industri pakan ternak sudah tentu memiliki standar Kesehatan dan Keselamatan Kerja yang baik. Akan tetapi sepanjang tahun 2022 di industri ini masih terjadi kecelakaan kerja khususnya pada proses produksi. Kecelakaan kerja yang terjadi pada tahap ringan hingga sedang. Melihat kondisi ini dipandang perlu untuk melakukan upaya pencegahan dan meminimalisir risiko kecelakaan kerja, salah satunya menggunakan Job Safety Analysis. Metode Job Safety Analysis (JSA) digunakan untuk mengidentifikasi bahaya pada proses produksi serta memberikan usulan tindakan pencegahan. Berdasarkan pada hasil Job Safety Analysis bahwa aktivitas pada sektor permesinan dan proses maintenance mesin memiliki risiko terjadinya kecelakaan kerja seperti terkena percikan pembakaran boiler, tergelincir, terjepit dan lainnya. Diperlukan pengawasan yang ketat pada operator untuk mengenakan Alat Pelindung Diri sebelum bekerja, memastikan operator mengikuti instruksi kerja dan standar operasi prosedur dalam bekerja sehingga risiko kecelakaan kerja dapat diminimalisir.
