Abstract

Linguistic studies of the Qur’an continue to develop, especially in grammatical analysis regarding verbal structures. Surah Al-Qashash presents a variety of verb forms that do not merely appear as singular verbs, but also as composite (murakkab) and dual-meaning (mużdawij) verbs that produce deeper semantic interpretation. This study aims to identify, describe, and analyze the forms of fi’il murakkab and fi’il mużdawij found in Surah Al-Qashash using a qualitative descriptive approach based on textual analysis. The primary data consist of ten examples of fi’il murakkab and ten examples of fi’il mużdawij classified according to contemporary morphology theory. The findings demonstrate that the fi’il murakkab in this surah are mainly formed through combinations of verbs with direct objects, attached pronouns, prepositions, and adverbial components, while the fi’il mużdawij are divided into several types such as tadmin, supplication, cause–effect, conditionality, admiration, and reproach. Each verbal form contributes meaningfully to the semantic layer of the verse and enhances the stylistic dimension of the Qur'an. This research affirms that Qur’anic morphological analysis requires understanding not only word formation but also the semantic relations embedded within sentence structures.

Abstract

This study examines the transformation of classical calligraphy into digital calligraphy as a form of collaboration between artistic tradition and modern technology. Through a qualitative approach with descriptive analysis methods, this research explores how calligraphy practitioners adapt traditional techniques to digital media using tools such as tablets, styluses, or laptops and specialized software like Photoshop, Procreate, Corel, and Ibis. The findings show that digital calligraphy does not replace classical calligraphy but rather serves as its extension, allowing for greater accessibility, preservation of heritage, and creative innovation. However, this transformation raises challenges regarding the preservation of authentic values and the development of new aesthetic standards. This study recommends the integration of digital learning in traditional calligraphy curricula to produce the next generation of calligraphers who are both technically skilled and digitally literate.

Abstract

This study examines the implementation of Khat Naskhi learning among students of the Arabic Language Education Study Program (PBA) at Universitas Negeri Makassar (UNM). Khat Naskhi is one of the fundamental calligraphy scripts in Arabic writing, serving as an essential competency for Arabic language education students. This research uses a descriptive qualitative method with a case study approach. Data were collected through observation, interviews, and documentation. The subjects were 30 students of PBA UNM in the academic year 2023/2024. The results indicate that the implementation of Khat Naskhi learning at PBA UNM employs a combination of direct demonstration, drill practice, and guided feedback methods. Learning outcomes show that 86.7% of students achieved the good and very good categories. The main challenges faced include the availability of calligraphy tools, limited practice time, and varied student backgrounds in Arabic script writing. These findings suggest that structured and systematic Khat Naskhi instruction significantly improves students' Arabic calligraphy competence.

Abstract

This study examines the evolution of women's representation in modern Arabic poetry through a historical-diachronic approach. The research traces how Arabic poetry has undergone significant shifts in depicting women, from the neo-classical period through the contemporary era. Findings indicate that this thematic evolution reflects not only aesthetic developments in literary form, but also constitutes a broader cultural response to patriarchal structures embedded in Arab society. Pioneering figures such as Nizār Qabbānī played a central role in reimagining women as active subjects rather than passive objects. The study also identifies both internal drivers—such as growing social consciousness—and external influences, particularly Western literary movements, as catalysts for new perspectives on women in Arabic verse. The article concludes that modern Arabic poetry about women represents a multifaceted discourse encompassing identity formation, resistance to traditional conventions, and the humanization of women within a patriarchal social context.
