Abstract

Learning achievement is an important indicator in the world of education, which is usually measured through test scores, cumulative achievement index (GPA), and other parameters that reflect students' academic abilities. Various factors can influence learning achievement, such as anemia and nutritional patterns. This study aims to determine the relationship between hemoglobin levels and nutritional patterns and learning achievement. This research uses a descriptive correlational research type with a cross sectional research design with a population of 249 people and a sample of 124 people. The sampling technique used was Proportional Simple Random Sampling, using univariate and bivariate analysis tests. The independent variables are hemoglobin levels and nutritional patterns and the dependent variable is the student achievement index using the Chi Square Test. The results of the analysis using spearmanrank obtained a p value of 0.000. Because the p value of 0.000 is less than 0.05 (p<0.05), this means that statistically there is a relationship between hemoglobin levels and learning achievement.  The results of the analysis using spearmanrank obtained a p value of 0.046. Because the p value of 0.046 is smaller than 0.05 (p<0.05), this means that statistically there is a relationship between nutritional patterns and hemoglobin levels. Educational institutions should provide a routine health examination program that includes measurement of hemoglobin levels. This is important to detect cases of anemia early and carry out the necessary interventions before the condition affects student academic performance.

Abstract

The results of research on the nutritional status of children under two years of age in Indonesia in 2020 were that 1.3% were very underweight and 5.4% were underweight. There was an increase in 2021 which stated that 7.0% of the population under two years old experienced wasting. At the Oesapa Community Health Center, the number of toddlers experiencing nutritional status problems in 2022 in Oesapa will be 64.1%. This shows that nutritional problems are still high. The aim is to analyze the relationship between age, education, income, MUA and BMI of breastfeeding mothers with the nutritional status of babies. This research used a quantitative design with a cross sectional approach and was tested analytically. The research population was 125 mothers who were still breastfeeding babies aged 0-12 years, a sample of 98 respondents. The instruments in this research were questionnaires, observation sheets and scales, Lila tape.. The sampling technique was purposive sampling. The results of statistical tests show that there is no relationship with age (0.395) education (0.769). There is a relationship between family income (0.003), MUA (0.001) and BMI (0.046) with the baby's nutritional status. The conclusion is that there is no relationship between age and education and the nutritional status of babies. There is a relationship between family income, KEK status, BMI and the nutritional status of babies 0-12 months.

Abstract

Kata Kunci : Anak Balita, Perilaku merokok, Orang Tua, Stunting ABSTRACT Background :  Stunting is a serious health problem that affects children's growth and development in the long term. One of the risk factors that contributes to stunting is exposure to cigarette smoke from parents. Exposure to cigarette smoke can increase the risk of respiratory tract infections and impaired nutrient absorption in children, which contributes to stunting. Objective : This study aims to analyze the relationship between parental smoking behavior and the incidence of stunting in toddlers in Penfui Timur Village, Kupang Regency, East Nusa Tenggara.Method : This study is a quantitative study with a cross-sectional approach. The population in this study were all toddlers aged 24–59 months who lived with their male parents (biological fathers) in Penfui Timur Village. The sample was determined using a purposive sampling technique. Data were collected through questionnaires and anthropometric measurements, then analyzed using the Chi-Square statistical test. Results : There is a statistically significant relationship between parental smoking behavior and the incidence of stunting in toddlers, with a p value = 0.036 (p <0.05). From the distribution results, it was found that toddlers whose parents actively smoked at home had the highest proportion of stunting, which was 18 children out of 34 (52.9%). In contrast, in the group of parents who did not smoke, there were only 2 toddlers who experienced stunting out of a total of 13 children (15.4%).Conclusion : In conclusion, this finding indicates the need for public health interventions to reduce exposure to cigarette smoke in households to prevent stunting in children. Keywords: Parents, Stunting, Smoking behavior, Toddlers

Abstract

Nutrition is an important part of health and development. Good nutrition is linked to improved health of babies, children and mothers, as well as a stronger immune system. About 45% of deaths in children under 5 years of age are caused by malnutrition. This occurs mostly in low and middle income countries. The aim of implementing this community service activity is to increase mothers' knowledge in preventing stunting in toddlers. The method used in this service is providing education using lecture and question and answer methods as well as providing additional food to toddlers who are present during the activity. There was a clear difference in participants' knowledge before and after being given the material. The majority of participants were able to answer questions correctly and precisely after being given the material, namely 76%. After carrying out this community service activity, mothers who have toddlers can increase their knowledge of toddler nutrition problems. Educational activities help mothers who have toddlers understand nutritional problems in toddlers. This can be seen by increasing mothers' knowledge of providing balanced nutrition for toddlers.
