Abstract

Sustainable agriculture requires effective strategies for managing soil and water resources, one of whichis through the application of appropriate irrigation techniques and rice straw biomass amendments. Thisstudy aims to analyze soil nutrient content in variations of irrigation techniques and rice straw biomassamendments. The research was conducted at Subak Suala, Pitera Village, Penebel District, TabananRegency, using a Completely Randomized Design (CRD) consisting of two factors: variations inirrigation techniques (Ngenyatin, Flooding, and Alternate Wetting and Drying or AWD) and variationsin rice straw biomass amendments (burned rice straw and incorporated rice straw). Data were obtainedfrom treatments that were replicated five times, resulting in a total of 30 experimental plots. Parameterswere tested in the laboratory, and the data were analyzed using two-way analysis of variance (two-wayANOVA). The parameters analyzed included total nitrogen content, organic carbon, ammonium, andnitrate. The results of data analysis showed that the total nitrogen content ranged from 0.247% to0.412%, with an increase observed after the growing period in the incorporated rice straw-floodingtreatment. Organic carbon content ranged from 2.576% to 3.312%, with a decrease after the growingperiod noted in the incorporated rice straw-AWD treatment. Ammonium concentration ranged from4.551 to 8.248 ppm and decreased across all treatments, with the highest decline after the growing periodfound in the incorporated rice straw-Ngenyatin treatment. Meanwhile, nitrate concentration ranged from8.267 to 94.224 ppm, with a significant increase occurring in the burned rice straw-Ngenyatin treatment.Based on the analysis conducted, it can be concluded that the most effective treatment in maintaining181the balance of total nitrogen, C-organic, ammonium, and nitrate is incorporated rice straw (not burned)with the AWD (Alternate Wetting and Drying) irrigation technique.

Abstract

Before Subak farmers were familiar with tractors, land preparation was carried out using hoes or single-handed plows pulled by cattle. Land preparation with a tractor equipped with a complementary or rotary plow cannot be avoided in cases of overlap of processing results so that the processed soil results become inefficient. The overlapping results of the processing can be seen from the differences in the results of the processed soil. Based on these conditions, it is necessary to study the efficiency of tillage in Subak using single-axle tractors and rotary tractors in the first stage of tillage. Tractor work efficiency is measured based on a comparison between theoretical work and real work. Theoretical work is measured based on the width of the complement of the tiller, both short and rotary plows, and the average speed of the tractor's advance when cultivating the land. Real work is measured based on real work results in the field, namely the area ofland that has been successfully processed within a certain time span. Real work data was also confirmed based on the results of discussions with several tractor operators. From the results of the data analysis, it was obtained that the work efficiency of the short tractor was 77.3% and that of the rotary tractor was 55.2%.
