Abstract

This research examines the use of the Canva application in teaching biography writing to 10th-grade students at SMAN 4 Kota Jambi. The study employs a case study approach with qualitative research methods. The purpose of this study is to describe how teaching biography writing using the Canva application can enhance students' creativity and writing skills by providing interactive and engaging learning media. The results of this study show that the use of the Canva application can improve students' understanding, engagement, and motivation in writing biographies. Most students achieved good to excellent scores in content, structure, and language aspects of their writing. This study concludes that the implementation of Canva in the learning process can create a more creative and effective learning environment. Keywords: Teaching, Biography Writing, Canva Application. Abstrak Penelitian ini mengkaji penggunaan aplikasi canva dalam pembelajaran menulis teks biografi pada siswa kelas X SMAN 4 Kota Jambi. Penelitian ini menggunakan pendekatan studi kasus dengan jenis penelitian yaitu kualitatif. Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah mendeskripsikan bagaimanakah pembelajaran menulis teks biografi menggunakan aplikasi canva dapat meningkatkan kreativitas dan keterampilan menulis siswa dengan menyediakan media pembelajaran yang interaktif dan menarik. Hasil dari penelitian ini adalah penggunaan aplikasi canva dapat meningkatkan pemahaman, keterlibatan, dan motivasi siswa dalam menulis teks biografi. Sebagian besar siswa mencapai skor yang baik hingga sangat baik pada aspek isi, struktur, dan kebahasaan dalam karya tulisan mereka. Penelitian ini menyimpulkan bahwa penerapan canva dalam proses pembelajaran dapat menciptakan lingkungan belajar yang lebih kreatif dan efektif. Abstract

This article, titled "The Use of Audio-Visual Media through Deep Learning in Writing Procedure Texts for Phase D Students at SMP Negeri 34 Muaro Jambi," aims to describe the use of audio-visual media via deep learning in procedure text writing instruction and to assess its effectiveness among Phase D students at SMP Negeri 34 Muaro Jambi. The study employs a qualitative approach using a case study design. The research subjects were seventh-grade students at SMP Negeri 34 Muaro Jambi. Data collection involved observation, interviews, and documentation, while data analysis comprised data reduction, data presentation, and conclusion drawing. The results indicate that the use of audio-visual media through deep learning was implemented in three stages: understanding, applying, and reflecting. In the understanding stage, students observed videos and identified the elements of procedure texts. In the applying stage, students drafted procedure texts individually based on the understanding they had gained. In the reflecting stage, students and the teacher engaged in reflection and received feedback on the written work. The use of audio-visual media through deep learning proved effective, evidenced by an average student score of 85, classified as "excellent." Furthermore, interview results revealed positive responses from both teachers and students, as the method enhanced attention, engagement, comprehension, and students' ability to write procedure texts. Thus, the use of audio-visual media through deep learning is effective for teaching procedure text writing to Phase D students at SMP Negeri 34 Muaro Jambi.
