Abstract

This study aims to determine the effect of the application of the Problem Based Learning (PBL) learning model on students critical thinking skills in the content of Civic Education grade IV SDN 30 Ampenan. The study uses the Quasy Experimental Design method Nonequivalent Control Group Design Type, which is a type of research that uses experimental and control groups. The research sample consisted of 60 students, 30 students of class IV-A as a control group and 30 students of class IV-B as an experimental class with a saturated sampling type non-probability sampling technique. The instruments used are multiple-choice test and essay test. Furthermore, the data were analyzed using the requirements test, namely the normality test and homogeneity test. In the hypothesis test with t-test, was used obtained tcount > ttabel or 2,221 > 1,671, and sig (2-tailed) values of 0,030 ≤ 0,05, then Ho was rejected and Ha was accepted, meaning that there was a significant influence on learning by using the Problem Based Learning (PBL) model on the Civic Education critical thinking ability of class IV SDN 30 Ampenan. The TPS learning model proves that changes in students' thinking abilities are getting better and in accordance with the learning achievements achieved by students.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the implementation of the reading literacy habituation program at SDN 15 Mataram, including the forms of literacy activities, supporting and inhibiting factors, as well as the school’s efforts to improve students’ reading habits. This study employed a qualitative approach with a descriptive research design. The research subjects consisted of the principal, teachers, and students involved in the reading literacy program. Data were collected through observation, interviews, and documentation. The data were analyzed using the Miles and Huberman model through data reduction, data presentation, and conclusion drawing. The results showed that the reading literacy program was implemented through activities such as reading before lessons, independent reading, reading journals, and library visits. The supporting factors included teacher involvement, school facilities, a supportive learning environment, and students’ reading interest, while the inhibiting factors included limited facilities, low reading interest among some students, and inconsistent program implementation. The school and teachers made various efforts to improve students’ reading habits through mentoring, the use of interesting learning strategies, and the development of literacy facilities.
