Abstract

This study examines the low reading ability of elementary school students, particularly in reading comprehension, which is influenced by limited vocabulary, the use of local languages, the impact of post-pandemic learning conditions, and a lack of parental support. The study aims to analyze teachers’ strategies for addressing reading difficulties among third-grade students in a public elementary school in Tarogong District. The method used is a qualitative approach with a case study design. The research subjects include teachers and third-grade students selected through purposive sampling. Data were collected through observation, interviews, and documentation, while data analysis followed an interactive model consisting of data reduction, data display, and conclusion drawing, with validity ensured through triangulation. The results show that students’ reading abilities are uneven, mainly due to the impact of the pandemic and minimal learning support at home. The strategies implemented by teachers include intensive and continuous guided instruction, remedial teaching, and additional learning hours. In addition, motivational and emotional approaches such as providing attention, encouragement, and rewards have also been proven to increase students’ interest, confidence, and engagement in reading activities. Thus, adaptive, consistent, and student-centered strategies are effective in improving students’ reading ability.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the level of learning activeness of fourth grade students in thematic learning at SDN 01 Tambakbaya. This research employed a quantitative method with a survey approach. The population consisted of 30 students using exhaustive sampling technique. Data were collected through a questionnaire consisting of 15 items related to student learning activeness. The instrument was tested for validity with r values ranging from 0.489–0.668 which were higher than the r table value of 0.361, and showed high reliability with a Cronbach’s Alpha value of 0.847. The results indicate that the level of student activeness in thematic learning is categorized as high with an average percentage of 78.19%. Student activeness is reflected in participation in discussions, asking and answering questions, and collaborating in groups. This finding shows that thematic learning effectively encourages students to be actively involved both physically and mentally in the learning process. Thus, thematic learning is effective in improving the learning activeness of fourth grade students. However, variations in student activeness still exist, so teachers need to implement more varied and interactive learning strategies. Future research is recommended to use more diverse methods and expand the research subjects to obtain more comprehensive results.

Abstract

The development of digital technology has influenced the behavior of elementary school students,particularly in terms of politeness and responsibility.Easy acces ti information can affect students attitudes and habits in their daily school life.Therefor,the role of teachers as educators is crucial in shaping students chatacter. This studi aims to analyze the role of teachers in the doveloping students politeness and responsibilitiy at SDN 1 MEKARSAR. The research used a qualitative approach with a descriptive method. Data were collected through observation,interviews,and documentation. The collected data were analyzed through data reduction,data display, and conclusion drawing. The results show that teachers act as role models,guides,and supervisors in character development. The values of politeness and responsibility are instilled through habituation,positive examples,and the integration of character values into classroom learning activities
