Abstract

The research has been done to know profile of students result of teaching in acid, base and salt concepts through a contextual teaching and learning (CTL) using the class VII students of SMP Negeri 15 Ambon as a sampel of searching.  Profile of student learning results in acid-base concept and salt obtained by the test results to learn. Descriptive analist showed that the results obtained studying the cognitive aspects of 80.07%, 86.02% affective aspects, while the aspect psiycomotoryc 87.29% students are success to achieved the KKM. After following the learning process, the result of the acquisition value of the final test (post-test) showed that 80.16% of students have been able to achieve KKM. Of the students test data during the learning process the Final Value (NA) all students showed that 100% all students have reached the KKM. Based on the results obtained can be concluded that by using a contextual approach to teaching and learning (CTL) on the concept of base and acid salts can encourage students to be able find a relationship between the material learned to real life situations of students and increase student result of learning.

Abstract

Silver fish (Mene maculata) is a type of pelagic fish found in the Moluccas sea, this fish has a high oil content so that it is easy to extract the oil content for transesterification. The transesterification reaction of oil from silver fish oil needs a catalyst, and heterogenous catalyst is a better choice. This study was determined the fatty acid methyl ester composition of M. maculata by transesterification process using heterogeneous CaO catalyst from chicken egg shells through 3 steps i.e. oil isolation, CaO catalyst synthesis, and oil transesterification reactions. Oil isolation was carried out by soxhletation method using petroleum ether with the oil content was 13.51%. Synthesis of CaO catalyst was carried out by calcination at 1000 °C for 2 hours and then charactererized by XRD. Fish oil is transesterified using CaO catalyst in a ratio of 11% (w/v) of the mixture. Furthermore, fatty acid methyl esters obtained were analyzed using GC-MS. The results showed 6 methyl ester fatty acids as composition of transesterification products which were methyl myristic (11.85%), methyl palmitoleate (8.71%), methyl palmitic (25.13%), methyl oleic (9.49%), methyl stearic (10.04%), and methyl 5,8,11,14-eikosatetraenoate (1.96%).

Abstract

Gastropods are the sources of protein for coastal communities in the Maluku islands. We conducted analysis quantitative and qualitative of protein in Nerita undata meat from Hasa Cape in Saparua Island. The percentage of protein was analyzed by the Kjeldahl method. Qualitative analysis began with breaking peptide bonds in protein to amino acid components by sulphuric acid and barium hydroxide hydrolyzed. We identified amino acid compounds by using thin-layer chromatography (TLC) in butanol-acetic acid-water (8:1:1, v/v) as eluent. The result showed that N. undata meat contains 11.15% of protein and twelve amino acid compounds. There are seven essential amino acids in N. undata meat from supralittoral rocks and mezolittoral zone of Hasa cape is a source of quality protein. Thus, this species can be considered as a source of high-quality protein.

Abstract

Pala Indonesia memiliki nilai tinggi di pasar dunia karena aromanya yang khas dan rendamen minyaknya yang tinggi. Pada umumnya di Indonesia terdapat tiga jenis pala yaitu pala Banda (Myristica fragrans), pala Papua (Myristica argentea) dan pala hutan (Myristica fatua Houtt). Tumbuhan Pala merupakan tanaman rempah asli Maluku. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menganalisis komposisi senyawa penyusun minyak pala (nutmeg oil) jenis Myristica fragrans, nutmeg oil fuli (NOsF) dan biji (NOsB) dari Desa Sawai, Kabupaten Maluku Tengah menggunakan instrument GC-MS. Isolasi minyak pala dilakukan dengan metode distilasi uap selama 6 jam, hasil yang diperoleh rendemen NOsB sebesar (0,28%) Berdasarkan hasil analisis GC-MS NOsB mengandung 21 komponen senyawa dengan 2 komponen utama yaitu benzil benzoat (12,66%) dan miristisin (11,94%). Jalur biosintesis menunjukkan pada NOsB memiliki kemotipe pelandren dan linalool.
