Abstract

The fact that many pupils struggle to grasp basic concepts like the respiratory system in the classroom inspired this study. The purpose of this research was to find out if fifth graders at SDN 12 Kelapa improved their knowledge of the respiratory system after using the project-based learning approach. The quantitative research methodology used in this study is the pre-experimental design approach. One classroom, experimental Class V in first grade, was used in the study by means of the project-based learning paradigm. The data was gathered via the use of essay-style examination methods. The data was analyzed using the Shapiro-Wilk normality test, and the paired sample t-test was used for hypothesis testing.According to the study's normalcy test (Shapiro-Wilk), the average score went from 36.4 on the pretest to 59.6 on the posttest. There was a notable change between pre- and post-treatment, as the Wilcoxon test yielded a significance value of 0.000 0.05. A moderate N-Gain value of 0.36 was achieved. The results demonstrate a notable disparity in the learning outcomes of the students before to and after the therapy, leading to the acceptance of alternative hypothesis (H.). The results showed that fifth graders at SDN 12 Kelapa improved their knowledge of the respiratory system after using the project-based learning approach.
