Abstract

This research addresses the lack of an integrated eco-ta'dib framework that systematically connects ta'dib, Islamic environmental ethics, and ecological pedagogy. It aims to formulate eco-ta'dib as an Islamic educational ethics framework that comprehensively promotes ecological awareness, moral responsibility, and environmental sustainability. This qualitative grounded theory study employed a literature review, documentation, open coding, axial coding, and selective coding to develop concepts. The findings formulate eco-ta'dib as an integrated ethical framework for Islamic education, comprising five interconnected dimensions: ontology grounded in tawhid; epistemology grounded in adab; axiology emphasizing khalifah, amanah, and mizan; pedagogy fostering ecological awareness; and da'wah praxis encouraging social transformation. This framework extends al-Attas's concept of ta'dib beyond educational philosophy into an operational model of Islamic environmental ethics. Eco-ta'dib promotes spiritual consciousness, moral responsibility, and sustainable ecological behavior through curriculum development, an environmentally responsible school culture, eco-boarding school programs, ecological preaching, and training for environmental preachers. It provides a comprehensive foundation for addressing contemporary environmental challenges within Islamic educational institutions. In conclusion, eco-ta'dib offers an integrated Islamic educational ethics framework strengthening ecological awareness, environmental responsibility, and sustainable action through adab and da'wah. This research enriches Islamic educational ethics by providing a conceptual foundation for sustainability-oriented curricula, environmental education, and ecological da'wah initiatives.
