Abstract

Waste management in Clumprit Village, Pagelaran Sub-district, Malang Regency remains suboptimal due to low public awareness of proper waste disposal and management, limited availability of temporary waste disposal sites (TPS), and the underutilization of organic waste. This condition has the potential to cause environmental pollution and public health problems. This community service activity aims to assist the PKK (Family Welfare Movement) group of Clumprit Village in Black Soldier Fly (BSF) maggot cultivation as an effort to improve community knowledge and skills in converting organic waste into economically valuable products. The method used is Community Based Research (CBR), a community-based approach that emphasizes the active participation of the community in achieving social change. The implementation stages consist of laying the foundation, research planning, information gathering and analysis, and acting on findings. The program was carried out through socialization activities, maggot cultivation mentoring, the development of educational media, and training on processing maggot into animal feed and kasgot (maggot residue) into organic fertilizer. The results show that the mentoring successfully improved the knowledge, skills, and awareness of the PKK members in utilizing organic waste as maggot feed, thereby reducing waste volume while producing economically valuable products in the form of maggot as animal feed and kasgot as organic fertilizer. Nevertheless, the program still faces several challenges, such as uneven community participation, limited marketing of the cultivation products, and the need for continuous mentoring to ensure the sustainability and optimization of maggot cultivation activities in Clumprit Village.
