Abstract

This Research aims to produce a discussion method containing the presentation of a rotational system in linear program courses based on local wisdom that meets the eligibility requirements (Valid, Practical, and Effective). Development steps, namely; define, design, develop, and disseminate. Testing the use of discussion method containing the presentation of the rotation system on the linear program based on local wisdom was carried out on students of the Indonesian Catholic University (UNIKA) Mathematics Education Study Program, Santu Paulus Ruteng, class of 2019. The instruments used were interviews, tests, and questionnaires. Interviews were conducted to find out an initial description of the research problem. Tests are given to determine the level of effectiveness. The questionnaire was used to determine the level of validity and level of practicality. The validity questionnaire was given to 2 experts in the field of mathematics education, while the practicality questionnaire was given to students. Research result shows that, the discussion method containing the presentation of the rotation system on the linear program based on local wisdom that has been developed is declared feasible (Valid, Practical, and Effective). Through this method, each student is active during the learning process. The activeness of each student occurs, when entering the presentation stage of the rotation system (presentations are carried out alternately between one student and another) in internal groups and external groups.

Abstract

This study aims to find out the difficulties of students in solving mathematical problems related to agriculture in terms of mathematical learning motivation. This study uses qualitative methods, and the main instrument is the researcher himself, while the supporting instruments are questionnaires, tests and interviews. Data collection uses a triangulation process, and data analysis adapts the Milles and Huberman analysis model. The research subjects selected were 1 student who had low mathematical learning motivation (MBMR subject), 1 student who had moderate mathematical learning motivation (MBMS subject), and 1 student who had high mathematical learning motivation (MBMT subject). The results showed that in the step of understanding the problem, the three subjects did not experience any difficulties. In the step of making a problem-solving plan, the three subjects also used the graphical method and both did not experience difficulties. While in the step of carrying out problem solving, each subject finds their own difficulties that are different from each other.

Abstract

This study aims to find out the contribution of mathematical concepts to lodok rice fields (ricefield spider net) in Manggarai Regency. The main instrument is the researcher himself, and the supporting instruments are observation and interview guidelines. Data was collected by means of field observations and interviews with manggarai traditional leaders, where the selection of traditional leaders used a purposive sampling technique. To obtain valid and reliable data, the researchers used technique triangulation and source triangulation. Data analysis used is reducing data, presenting data, and drawing conclusions or verification. The results of the study found that the shape of lodok rice fields in Manggarai Regency was made by applying the concept of ''Circle Center Point'' at the meeting point (node point) of the land of all residents, which is referred to as Lodok and the concept of  ''Juring Circle'' on the shape and size of the land area of each resident as well as a barrier to land ownership rights between one resident and another, known as Langang or Lance.

Abstract

This research was conducted to find out what, why and how mathematical strategic abilities possessed by students. This research used qualitative methods. Research subjects were selected using purposive techniques, namely students who had high achievement motivation (MPT Subjects), students who had moderate achievement motivation (MPS Subjects), and students who had low achievement motivation (MPR Subjects). The main research instrument is the researcher himself, while the supporting instruments are tests and interview guidelines. Data collection is done by giving written tests on statistical material and conducting in-depth interviews. Research data was analyzed in the following ways, namely reducing data, presenting data, and drawing conclusions or verification. The results of the research show that MPT Subjects have good mathematical strategic abilities so they can solve mathematical problems correctly. Furthermore, MPS Subjects have mathematical strategic abilities but are still inadequate so that the mathematical problems they solve still contain errors, while MPR Subjects do not yet have good mathematical strategic abilities. well so it can't solve mathematical problems correctly.

Abstract

Abstract The ability to understand concepts is very important and becomes the basis for supporting the solving of mathematical problems. The connection between one concept and another concept and one topic with another topic is a characteristic of learning mathematics. The relationship requires that each student must have the ability to understand the concepts well, but it cannot be denied that the ability to understand mathematical concepts is still low, as happened to theLangke Rembong 4Junior High School students. Learning innovation needs to be done to achieve a good understanding of concepts. This study aims to compare the understanding ability of mathematical concepts of students who follow a guided inquiry learning model with students who take direct learning. The research design uses Posttest only control group design. The population is all eighth grade students of Langke Rembong 4 Junior High School, totalling230 students. Sampling is done by random sampling with equality test between classes. It is then obtained class VIII A as the experimental class and class VIII C as the control class. Data collection uses tests in the form of description questions. Data analysis uses t-test with normality test and homogeneity test for the assumptions. The results show that the students who follow the guided inquiry learning have higher understanding of mathematical concepts than those who are taught with direct learning model. Keywords: inquiry, understanding of mathematical concepts
