Abstract

Introduction: This study examines the effects of work motivation, job satisfaction, and self-efficacy on employee performance in culinary micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs) in Purwokerto.Method: This study used a quantitative explanatory design with a survey method. Primary data were collected through a five-point Likert scale questionnaire from 107 employees of 19 culinary MSMEs selected using purposive sampling. Respondents were active non-owner employees, had worked for at least six months, were directly involved in operational activities, and worked in culinary MSMEs located in West, East, North, and South Purwokerto. Data were analyzed using multiple linear regression with IBM SPSS Statistics version 26.Results: Work motivation had a positive and significant effect on employee performance, with a regression coefficient of 0.250 and a significance value of 0.002. Job satisfaction also had a positive and significant effect, with a coefficient of 0.225 and a significance value of 0.001. Self-efficacy had a positive but insignificant effect, with a coefficient of 0.034 and a significance value of 0.635. Simultaneously, the three independent variables significantly affected employee performance, as indicated by an F-value of 12.893 and a significance value below 0.001. The model explained 27.3% of the variation in employee performance, with an adjusted R-square of 25.2%.Conclusion and Recommendations: Work motivation and job satisfaction are important factors in improving employee performance, while self-efficacy does not have a significant direct effect. The limited adjusted R-square indicates that factors outside the model also influence employee performance. Culinary MSME managers should strengthen clear work targets, fair task distribution, communication, proportional rewards, and practical training. Future studies should include additional variables and use a broader probability-based sample where a reliable population frame is available.
