Abstract

Dysmenorrhea is menstrual pain commonly experienced by adolescent girls and can interfere with daily activities, including schoolwork. A systematic review by Armour et al. (2019) of 21,573 women under the age of 25 reported a combined prevalence of dysmenorrhea of 71.1%. In Banjaran Pucung Village, Depok City, preliminary assessment results indicate that the majority of adolescent girls experience menstrual pain every month, while knowledge regarding non-pharmacological management of dysmenorrhea—such as the use of herbal remedies made from turmeric, lemongrass, and lime (kuserpis) as well as acupressure—remains limited. Issues: the high incidence of primary dysmenorrhea among adolescent girls in Banjaran Pucung Village and the low level of knowledge and skills among adolescents in performing self-management using non-pharmacological methods. Proposed Solution: Health education on dysmenorrhea, accompanied by demonstrations on preparing herbal remedies made from turmeric, lemongrass, and lime (kuserpis), as well as training in acupressure at the Sanyinjiao (SP6), Hegu (LI4), and Guanyuan (CV4) points. Type of Participants: 14 adolescent girls aged 13–17 in Banjaran Pucung Village, Depok City. Activity Schedule: Tuesday, July 14, 2026. Activity Types: education, demonstrations, and hands-on practice. Implementation methods consisted of preparation, execution, and evaluation. Objectives: to improve adolescent girls’ knowledge and attitudes regarding dysmenorrhea, as well as their application of kuserpis and acupressure. Output: Community Service Journal.
