Abstract

Introduction: Exposure to harmful substances in food is a significant factor contributing to stunting and nutritional problems in children, as it impacts their growth and development. While healthy diets are well-documented, direct links between dietary intake and harmful substance exposure are less explored. This study investigates key risk factors influencing such exposure in children. Objectives: This study aimed to analyses the impact of nutritional status, dietary intake, and exposure to harmful substances in children.Materials And Methods: A cross-sectional study involving 780 children in 30 elementary Schools, collected data on dietary intake, nutritional status, and laboratory testing for harmful substances like borax, formalin, Rhodamine B, and cyclamate using Qualitative Test Kit. Food samples were obtained from school vendors and commonly consumed items. Data were analysed using Chi-Square tests and binary logistic regression to assess the relationships between variables. Results: Among the children, 50% were aged 8–9 years, and 53.8% were female. Most had good nutritional status (69.2%), and 88.2% had sufficient dietary intake. However, 69.1% were exposed to harmful substances in food. Poor nutritional status increased exposure risk by 3.11 times (PR = 3.11; 95% CI: 1.75 - 5.51; p = 0.000), and insufficient dietary intake raised it by 13.26 times (PR = 13.26; 95% CI: 8.37 - 21.02; p = 0.000).Conclusion: A child’s nutrition and food safety are deeply connected. Poor nutrition makes children more susceptible to harmful substances, highlighting the importance of ensuring both a healthy diet and stricter food safety measures. By prioritizing better nutrition and safer food choices, we can help protect children's health and support their growth.

Abstract

Falls are the most worrying incidence of patient safety concern that have an impact on injury and death. 1.9 to 3 percent of patients fall in the hospital, with injuries in 6 to 44 percent. Hospitals are making efforts to reduce those fall rates, but its implementation are hindered by a variety of barriers. This study aims to identify the barriers of fall risk assessment and prevention in the hospital. The research method is systematic review using PRISMA, with 15 included studies. Identified barriers includes insufficient knowledge, lack of motivation, absence of champion, lack of resources, inadequate communication, unsustainable program, and support and access shortage. To successfully implement fall prevention programs in hospitals requires a multifaceted, planned approach that includes: regular education and training for staff and patients; provision of equipment; audit, reminders and feedback; leadership and champions; simple programs; and a framework and time for adaptation in the hospital. Abstract

ABSTRACT Introduction: The pathogenesis of tension-type headache (TTH) is unclear; however, studies report a correlation between lowered pain thresholds at myofascial trigger points (MTrP) as a cause of cervical spasm, that can develop further into TTH. The MTrP pain threshold among TTH patients in the city of Jambi has never been described. Method: Adult patients diagnosed with TTH in Jambi city are measured for their pain thresholds at the muscles of four known MTrPs: the trapezius, sternocleidomastoid, temporalis, and sub-occipital muscles. Results are then analyzed. Results: Fifty-three subjects were obtained (53 female, 18 male) with the largest age group between 26-40 years old, and most frequent profession to be government worker and housewife. Based on the average pain thresholds of the four MTrPs, the lowest to highest average measurements are on the temporalis muscle (1.93 kg/cm2), m. sternocleidomastoid (2.48 kg/cm2), m. sub-occipital (2.50 kg/cm2) dan trapezius (2.63 kg/cm2). Conclusion: MTrP pain threshold measurements can be considered as a routine examination among TTH patients, as MTrP plays a significant role in the pathogenesis of TTH and potentially as a target of multimodal therapy.
