Abstract

Primary dysmenorrhea is menstrual pain that occurs without any pathological abnormalities in the reproductive organs and is commonly experienced by adolescent girls. This condition may interfere with daily activities, learning concentration, and quality of life. One non-pharmacological intervention that can be used to reduce menstrual pain is the combination of Mozart music therapy and back exercise. This study aimed to determine the effect of Mozart music therapy and back exercise on reducing primary dysmenorrhea pain among adolescent girls at Pondok Pesantren Jauharul Falah Al-Islamy. This study employed a quantitative approach using a pre-experimental one-group pretest-posttest design. A total of 76 respondents were selected using the total sampling technique. Pain intensity was measured using the Numeric Rating Scale (NRS) before and after the intervention and analyzed using the Wilcoxon Signed Rank Test with a significance level of α = 0.05. The results showed that the mean pain score before the intervention was 5.16 ± 0.801, which decreased to 2.59 ± 0.615 after receiving Mozart music therapy and back exercise. The Wilcoxon Signed Rank Test revealed a p-value of 0.000 (p< 0.05), indicating a statistically significant effect of Mozart music therapy and back exercise on reducing primary dysmenorrhea pain. It can be concluded that the combination of Mozart music therapy and back exercise is effective in reducing the intensity of primary dysmenorrhea pain and may be used as a safe, practical, and effective non-pharmacological alternative for managing menstrual pain.
