Abstract

Corruption is a multidimensional problem that not only causes economic losses to the state but also reflects a moral and religious crisis in national life. This study aims to analyze the paradox between Indonesia's identity as a religious nation and the persistence of corrupt practices through a philosophical examination of the first principle of Pancasila, Belief in the One and Only God. The research employs a qualitative method using a descriptive-analytical approach based on library research. Data were collected from books, scholarly journal articles, official documents, and other relevant literature on corruption, Pancasila, and the philosophy of religion, and were analyzed using philosophical and interpretative methods. The findings indicate that corruption is not merely a violation of law or an abuse of power but also a denial of the moral values embodied in the first principle of Pancasila. Corrupt practices reveal a significant gap between the religious identity embraced by Indonesian society and the actual implementation of honesty, responsibility, and justice in public life. This study concludes that combating corruption requires not only legal and institutional reforms but also the strengthening of moral awareness, character formation, and the internalization of the values of Belief in the One and Only God as the ethical foundation of national and state life.
